Tach jumping at start

Anyone having the same issue with the tach jumping when starting their car ?

Watch in the video the tach needle going from under the "0" and then jumping to 2k RPM in one jump !

This seem to happen after installing a tune.

See video from TacoBill

It's a feature. The car jumps to 1.2-1.5k when it's stock. Mine goes to 2k after my tune as well. I think it's good for your engine, because it pumps oil around and gets the engine warmed up to operating temperature faster.

Its mainly to warm up your O2 sensors on start up. Call your tuner... he can adjust the start up RPMs and send you a new tune if you dont like where it is... I personally like scaring people on startup hehe

Yeah, mine sounds like a beast when I fire it up. Every once in a while I will see someone walking by jump when I start it

My favorite is going to the racetrack with our drag car, and firing it up when people irritate me. Plus it's easy as pie to set their car alarms off.

Maybe I didn't explaine well and watch the video, I'm more concern with the behavior of the tach, the needle jumps very quickly to bellow 0 to 2k rpm very quickly after the car is started.

Look again at the video to see what I'm talking about.

Thanks,

mine doesnt jump like that, when i start it cold it goes up to like 1500 then slowly goes down as it warms up, it doesnt rev itself a rev times like yours.

For some reason I guess I thought you were revving the motor yourself after the initial jump to 2k.

Mine is currently stock and jumps to 1500rpms the same way yours jumps to 2k, however it doesnt rev itself.

Check you battery connections. The tach in my 2001 Bullitt or 2003 Mach1 (I forget which) jumped abnormally during startup because a Ford tech left a battery terminal loose, where it was just resting on top of the post.
