This will sound strange, coming from someone that has a Mach 1 ... But, Why is everyone so stuck on getting Ram Air/Scooped air? The gain in HP is neglible compared to other mods that can be made far more cheaply then buying the unit, and a new hood. It's honestly much more of a visual mod, then not ...
Yep it was all for the look, someone said it helped sound. I was doin it to the engine so it won't look dumb when people see I have fake ram-air. Yeah, this mod is not gonna be my 1st since it is going to be pricey.

I have a Ram Air fixation... always have... I want one on my current Saturn, but it's not worth it since it will be sold.

If I could just the hood then the ram air later, i'd be happy with that...

On the saturn, just take the hood off.

As far as waiting for the perfect car ... Grantsdale is right, if you wait, you'll always be waiting. The better ide is to make an informed decision to when you STOP waiting, and live with it.

I'll probably get the hood whenever it comes out for the 05 mustang, then the ram air when i can afford it.

Umm .. Can you get one without the other? Wouldn't you have a hood with a hole in it?

I know this is lame, but they sell mini fans to put on you ram-air setup so you get air even at low speeds. Dumb idea, but hey if you're poor its a good thing.

if you already have ram-air, 2-3psi of boost all the time is not bad for a 10 dollar mod IMO.

Yeah but it runs on electricity and drawbaks may be-
Make sure your alternator can do that much output. For the 05 and monster machines it wont be a problem.

Any car you are putting ram air on shouldn't have a problem with little fans pulling on the alternator.

Agreed. Don't think it will work. Don't see how it'll spin up enough to make a difference. Just like the guy who sold the fans that just fit in the air tube. Basically the incoming air spun the fans, and that supposedly gave you extra oomph.. Uh-Huh, right.

I agree as well...

but if there is something you really want, and you only have to wait a few months for it, then why not wait. I am sure there will be enough time before I order my '05 to know what this specail edtion is. If it is something worthwhile (read: Bullitt) I will get it, enjoy it and not look back.

No way can I wait a few years to see what Ford releases so I ordered one this year and if they release different options (scoopes, grilles, etc...) I would just buy something aftermarket and save myself some money.

I was really hoping they would come out with a Shelby. We know Carroll has been working with Ford on "multiple Shelby platforms" and I was hoping that would be the next SE. However, he would not let it be just some cosmetics on the 05 stang and label it a Shelby. So I guess I am back to waiting on the Cobra, which I hope will be a Shelby in some way.

I know all about the die hard SVT people and I am not bashing them or anyone else. I have just wanted a Shelby, just like you guys said above, I want to wait for the keeper.

I am also waiting for when the 05's start hitting the lots, will be test driving them to get an idea and hopefully they will release info on the SE and Cobra.

Great work guys on all the info this site pulls together.

They will make a Shelby, just don't know when...

If I have the money, I'm going to get into legal street racing. Like go to a track and race that way. I'd buy the Shelby, put more mods into it, then racing it.

But then again, I won't have said money for another few years. I'm too much of a dreamer...

IMO, if next springs SE is either a Bullitt, Shelby, Boss or Mach, I bet it will be a Shelby GT350.

This is assuming it WILL be one of those, which it may not.

Think of this:

Shelby GT350 = 350hp which I'm sure they can get with higher compression etc. out of the 4.6L 3valve N/A.

Add a hoodscoop which have been rumoured for this SE and maybe a ducktail??

Some GT350 stripes, maybe some interior pieces and presto, you have a relatively simple SE.

If the 295rwhp is true, it wouldn't take much to have a 350hp SE. Ford could also have listed the car at 300hp to make sure there was a 50hp gap between cars.

Anyway, I'm just thinking out loud here. Probably overly optimistic with the power gains but WHY NOT? Ford should be riding the shelby wave and keep enthusiasm up.

Either way, I hope we find out what this SE is all about by the fall.
