The valve covers, the 18 inch rims etc. All removed because "svt wanted that for there special editions"... Anyone else getting a little annoyed at this? I mean, I can understand some stuff, but the rims? Why not just have a different style for the SVT?

We don't know if its true or not. It might not be. Lets not jump to conclusions and kill them because of it until we know for sure. Simply because they do make great products.

Even if it is true, I'm sure you could order it aftermarket. And, though I'm not saying the guy at the show wasn't being truthful in what he thought, he very well could have misunderstood Ford's intention. SVT just doesn't get to pick stuff that is exclusive to them only. Ford as an entity makes a decision on what is best for them in selling cars, and most cost effecient. If SVT claimed something as only there's, Ford Mgmt. could just as easily say - "uh-huh, yeah." and give it everyone anyway.

More then likely, some of the items Ford held back on for several reasons: 1.)They'll have things to add to the SE's and even future base models in the future; 2.) SVT could in fact only be getting it; 3.) They want to sell the part through Ford Racing to make some extra cash.

Look at the Explorer. There have been little changes to it every year since its redesign in 2002. Just don't get your panties in a wad. You'll be able to get it installed afterwards, one way or the other -- and they may in fact be options come next spring if Ford decides to do it that way (regardless of what SVT wants).

well look at it this way if ford does what they've done in the past you'll be able to get all you limited edition trim peices on a v6 in a few years. Anyone remember the 1999 GT special edition scoups reapearing on spring edition cars or the 99 cobra hoods on v6's now?

well to use the last gen stang as an example... i thought the first few yrs were ugly and they got better looking as they did changes. ford probably already knows what this car (05) will look like in 10 yrs or whenever it goes outta production. why throw out your whole bag of tricks the first year? thats how i believe they think.

oh yeah... goat rider ur avatar rules. :headbang:

I think it has something to do with cost. Ford wants the car to remain affordable so some of this needed to go.

You'd think SVT would be happy with the coolest acronym in all of car-dom.

Maybe if SVT is using stuff already developed, it will keep the cost down on the 2007 Cobra. Plus, it will give them more money to spend on the engine.

I just wanted the darn hood scoops! Everything else I'd get aftermarket when I have the money.

First thing I'm buying is the Ram Air though, then maybe play with the exhaust system... like a better cat back system or better exhaust headers. I don't know what will have to be done until I buy the car and get under the hood/car. Only then, will I know what needs to be bought/replaced/installed. But no matter what, hood scoops are a must on any mustang, imo.

Wanna give me the money for it? If so I'd be glad to do it...

I'd have 10 different models... Muscle, sport, sport compact, the typical family car, huge hiney trucks (2 kinds), something ricers would rice out, a van, something so hidious that people would flock for it (think honda element and PT Cruiser), and finially, the super expensive car that only the super rich would consider buying, something like the Ford Cobras will be...

Super rich people skip the Cobra, and go Vette or Viper.

I'd go Cobra, though!

This will sound strange, coming from someone that has a Mach 1 ... But, Why is everyone so stuck on getting Ram Air/Scooped air? The gain in HP is neglible compared to other mods that can be made far more cheaply then buying the unit, and a new hood. It's honestly much more of a visual mod, then not ...

Ah yes, the ole' "if you have a complaint, get lost" attitude...

I love the car and will be getting it regardless of these items. Maybe I sounded a bit more upset than I really am, sorry about that. But please drop the useless "love it or leave it" comments. Otherwise, whats the point of the forums?

SVT will make something fantastic with the Mustang and all will be forgiven.

Exactly what I was struggling with for a long time.

I've come to realize that better versions WILL come. I mean, what was it, 7-9 variants in the model run. You can bet you'll see some nice ones.

I just want to know what's coming up in the next two years. I think that is fair to ask.

From what we've heard, a Special Edition (sort of) which is likely more of an appearance package (maybe 18's, scoops, ducktail??) will be coming out in March 2005. Then we will see a Cobra debut in June 2006. That might be all for the next two years.

Since there is no way I can afford a Cobra, I'm waiting to find out what this SE in March is all about. Then, I will make a decision and I'm sure that whatever comes out afterwards, I'll still be extremely happy with my choice.

The problem with waiting is that there will always be something better. By the time the Cobra hits, I'll have put almost 2 years on my car already. I'd rather get 2 years of enjoyment instead of 2 years of waiting.
