Sueing Ford....

I replaced my battery because of it dying all the time. It did not help. The battery will die in 3 or 4 days if you leave the radio on when you shut the car off. New battery or not. The problem is in the PCM or the shaker 500 on my car.

There might be something to that. I don't listen to my radio, so it's always turned off. And my car can sit for 2 weeks and still start. I don't have active anti-theft, though.

Just my 2 cents worth, my car was parked all winter only being started about every other week. Every time it had to be jumped. I read a few threads about turning the radio off and locking the doors with the key. I guess this does something with the alarm? This winter I tried that and now every time I go to start it it fires right up.

The same exact thing happened to my '01 GT about 2 years ago. The one amp for the Mach 460 system had a short. They unplugged it, recharged the battery, and I was good again up through trading her in this past November.

I posted problems with this on another thread, so I won't repeat it again. Suffice to say, my battery dies in about three days in cold temps, and about 7 days in warmer temps.
I purchased a battery manager and have to keep it plugged up every day, and no problems. The car is garaged, unlocked, and all electrical devices are shut off, prior to shutting down the engine.
However, I went out and looked at the battery this morning, and the part number listed on it is BXT96R, which only has a CCA rating of 500, and a reserve min of 90.
I believe the battery that should be in the car, because of the active alarm system, shaker, etc., is the BXT40R (High Electrical Content), with a CCA rating of 590 and a reserve min of 105.
I am wondering if Ford just ran out of the BXT40R and put in the BXT96R in to keep production running, and that is why some of us are having problems and others are not. Just a thought...
