Ordered 11/3/04, got DORA following week. Dealer called 1/15/05 and said my order had been submitted to plant. No VIN, no build date. What does this mean and how much longer do I have to wait. Dealer is saying mid-March.

It means your order was submitted to the plant. Depends on what you ordered on how much longer.

I assume that's better than "clean and unscheduled". I ordered on 11/23/04 and I'm still C/U. I just want a build date. The wait won't bother me then since we're covered with snow. I want the car to be here when the snow melts.

The basic order of status you will see:

UNSCHEDULED/CLEAN
SUBMITTED TO PLANT
SCHEDULED (also called SEGMENTED) (This is when you will receive a build week)
PRODUCTION LOCKED-IN
BUCKED (Production has started on your vehicle)
PRODUCED
Then it's shipped and it can either be shipped via convoy or rail or both.

I may have left out some other ones, but those are the major one, it's possible you may see Matl Hold, but that's one that you don't want to see.

To see what your status code means, check the Dealer Status Inquiry Glossary

It means your imported vehicle has been released by the foreign assembly plant. Is this what your status is?

I have no idea what it means in regard to a Mustang since it's not imported or built outside the U.S.
