Stupid Tire Pressure Monitoring sensor stuck on.

Stupid Tire Pressure Monitoring sensor stuck on.
Just want to rant as these **** things are pretty much useless once the battery is dead. I just changed my tires and now they die. Grrrr. I wish I can disable this circuit.

Yeah, would have been nice if the TPMS industry could have adopted the piezo generator design used when Corvette introduced TPMS (although installing them upside down would cause them to fail).
Unfortunately you are right on schedule for sensor replacement as they are deisgned to last from 5-10 years and I've seen them go dead in as little as three years.
Pretty cheap as far as sensors go though since you just have to pull the sensor from the cradle and pop a new one in and secure it with some plastic clips.
On the bright side, at least you have the banded sensors and not the wheel (valvestem) mounted sensors. The variety that uses an aluminum stem is subject to corrosion and if the valvestem cap fails or falls off, the valve core is subject to corrosion and siezing or the stem can corrode and break off.
This isn't to bad on models where the stem can be replaced, but most seem to be a permanent design where the entire sensor has to be replaced and they often fail well before the battery goes dead.

Uh!
If memory serves and the Original bands are still on the car they will have to be replaced as well cause they were a one shot deal. The replacements can be reused.

One of my 08's had a bad one when I bought it new. It started going off on the 2 hour ride home from the dealership. Ended up stopping on the side of the highway thinking I'd already picked up a nail or something.

i got around the tpms by making for a better word, the pipe bomb. been discussed before, just bought a s40 2" pvc pipe and glued a cap on each end with an air valve in one end and placing the sensors inside and adding air and leaving it in the trunk.
