A salesman from the local dealer was just up here at work and we were "discussing" Mustang mark-ups. He was using the "oh they're getting X amount over sticker in (whatever) town" excuse to justify their $1000 mark-up. In this case, it was $7000 over in Atlanta.
Anyway, I asked if he had heard anything about the IUP hold. He said no, but he knew they were going to discontinue the "red leather seats." I didn't even feel like arguing with him anymore.
I HATE SALESMEN!!

It’s amazing how much the people whose job it is to sell the vehicle don’t know about their own products.

Tell me about it - back in November when a dealership around the corner from me got their FIRST GT in and rolled it out on the showroom floor, I just happened to drop by at that exact time. And as all the salemen cluster around it, I KNEW I knew more about the car from this site than ANY of them did.

(I loved that one post someone put up where the salesman told them they weren;t making a convertible??!!? )

there is always a few bad apples out there that give sales reps a bad name. Just move on and maybe try another dealer.

I went to two dealerships and got the runaround, then the third place I went to not only offered to order the car for me but gave me X-Plan as well!
It pays to shop around these days.

come on now, we're not all that way. I pride myself on knowing quite a bit on all the product I sell.

and if youre in the northern part of atlanta, remember that my dealership isnt marking up at all.

one of the biggest problems ive seen is we get one GT in at a time. we've got about 5 v6 cars on the lot, but only get one gt at a time. i cant get the ordering manager to get any cars with the base GT wheel either. I dont like the upgrade wheel. It looks like it belongs on a Lincoln to me.

So you're in (near) Atlanta?
Have you heard of anyone paying or even asking $7000 over MSRP?

I live in Atlanta, GA. On Tuesday of last week, I was told by a salesman at Team Ford in Marietta that they were charging 1000 over MSRP on every GT they sold. Considering the way they are selling and how hard they are to find, I can believe it. Ive never heard of anyone charging, much less paying, over 7K markup.

If you would like the name of the salesman I spoke with, let me know and ill give it to you... He was what I would consider a model salesman. He was able to answer all my questions, was helpful, and ecouraging. What impressed me most was his ability to treat me with respect and serious demeanor (I dont often recieve this because Im so young).
Note: Im not trying to steal sales from anyone, or advertise in anyway. Im just trying to spread the praise where its been earned.

That's me. He didn't make my sale- and I didn't see him when I bought her either.

As you can see in my sig, I already have one on order, but I'm getting REAL pissed that I still don't have any new info.
Getting a great price, but I'd pay more for one off the lot if I found one.

It absolutely depends on where you shop around here.
I only know of one dealer who is gouging. That is also the one dealer with plentiful GTS. They sell GTs for a 5k premium. They sell for over sticker "because they can". These cars are not all over the roads, so someone who didn't go to the College of the mustang source will see one, buy their line of limited production BS and finance 33k for a 28k car.

There are mustangs where Eleanor was born for under 21k, a couple just at 20 k...All v6es but NOT gouged....This dealer has had ONE gt since October, it sold in 3 hours for 28k.

You outta see her showroom replacement- its a WB v6 with no ESP or shaker. :nono: 20k.
