Is a stock '05-09 GT louder than a 2011/2012?
I just rented a 2012 GT from Hertz and it was incredible amounts of fun. Loved everything about the car. I've driven an '08 GT a while back, and I remember it being louder than the 2012? Also, I didn't really get to open up the '08 too much. Is there really that much of a power difference between the '05-09's and the new 5.0 liter engine GT's? I know the specs are significantly different, but is it really that a huge difference? For example the 0-60 times and just the feel of tramping down the gas. Any answers are much appreciated. I've been looking into buying a GT for a long time and I'm almost ready to buy one.
I havent noticed a sound difference really, except that the tone of the 4.6 seems a lil deeper than the 5.0 in the new gt's. The 0-60 times for 05-09 gt are slightly slower or on par with the 11-12 v6 mustang so yes major difference between 05-09 and 11-12 gt's
Maybe this will help, From Mustang Cult.

I was not in the Stang but I had a 4.6 pass me the other day with no idea what exhaust it had but it had a real deep tone to it alot more then my 5.0. When I went by him again I did notice he was supercharged so I know that will add a deeper tone but no matter what it sure sounded good, had a bit of the old 5.0 tone to it. I thought at least
Ok, another question then. Do the 05-09's have the same feel as when you tramp it down? The 2012 I rented was so vicious. Anytime I wasn't hard on the throttle, it just felt like it wanted to go faster. I'm not going to be racing the car or anything, I'm just talking about being able to have the thrill when you floor it and it just makes your heart race.

They can raise your adrenalin.
Well that's good then. I go back and forth between which styling I like better, but I do prefer the boxier 05-09's just a little bit. Plus if I got an 11-12, I would want the bigger rear spoiler, side scoops, and louvers...but it's almost impossible to see out of the back or sides with the louvers and bigger spoiler. The 05-09 spoiler doesn't block as much of the rear mirror, plus I think that style looks nicer without louvers.
If you are serious about buying one of these cars, find a dealer who has both on the lot (a 2011+ and a 2010-) and drive them side by side, then you can better appreciate the differences and decide whether the extra performance of the new 5.0 is worth the extra dollars to you.
I have never driven the new 5.0 (this is intentional, I don't have the budget for a new car right now) but according to the numbers it is significantly more powerful -- 100 HP is about a 33% increase ; and it has more torque throughout the RPM range than the older 4.6
BUT -- will you really use that extra power, and is it worth it to you? Only you can decide that ; I can tell you my 2010 GT has more than enough power for anything I will do with it . . . but then, 100 more would be nice . . .
