Today I had to go to two different Ford dealerships and found Sheehy Ford in Springfield VA selling a base 05 GT for 34K!!!! :notnice: No IUP, but I think it had leather seats and Shaker 1000, like mine.

At Cowels Ford in Woodbridge VA, I saw an 05 V6 going for 30K!!! :notnice:

What is up with this? Back in OCT 04 I paid 28K for my ride. Just lucky I guess.

Makes me almost want to sell my car for a profit.

And you probably could get more than what you paid if you sell your GT, only problem would be waiting for another one!

As for the sticker shock, those are the greedy dealers trying to make a quick buck! It seems pretty common for dealer stock GTs to have a mark-up on them. But the V6s, that's a joke, there are plenty of those to go around if you do some searching!

Guess I got lucky too, cause I found a dealer that accepted X-plan!

People should Call around there are at least two dealers I have found willing to sell GTs at MSRP and they still have 05 Allocations...supposedly.

Mark,
I picked up my GT on Friday from Cowles Ford. I think the V-6 for $30K you were referring to was maybe the one with the Saleen package? You should take a look at Ted Britt Ford in Chantilly. They are marking GT's up about $10K.

I got mine for $1000 (roughly $1600 under MSRP) over invoice with no plan, and at the time, I thought that was just a so-so deal. As time goes by, I am beginning to think I did alright.

There's a story behind the red GT at Sheehy. Seems the Springfield location has no more allotments so they got desperate and bought the red GT and a black Vert at auction. Both are overpriced and they know it. The Sales manager told me he's embarrassed about the price, but they needed stock and couldn't get it from Ford. He said he might have been able to get some more from Ford if he was willing to accept a boatload of Explorers as well, but we know how well they are selling! I think the GT is basically there just for show. When I went in they weren't trying very hard to sell it. I don't think it is "marked-up" per se, they just paid through the nose for it to begin with. They are selling it as a used car. They did offer to place an '06 order for $200 under MSRP (Their standard deal). I went to Sheehy in Marlow Heights because that location had allotments left and ordered my GT from them. $200 under MSRP. Build date week of 5/30. Can't wait. As far as Cowles goes, they are just doing their best to squeeze every dime they can out of some poor stinkers. They had a GT on the lot some weeks ago with a big proud sticker trumpeting their "NON-NEGOTIABLE $2,000 Additional Dealer Markup". I told them to lose my number and went back to Sheehy. As far as I know, Sheehy doesn't mark-up from MSRP.

All the dealerships in my area are marking them up by at least $3,000 on a GT.

Gee, I feel lucky! I got my loaded Red/Blk Vert for 21K with 3 miles on the odometer...oh yeah, that was in 1992

Since there are so many N. Va comments - I went to Koons Ford in Sterling back in February, and they said they had already sold their only '05 Stang GT's for the year, but they would take my name to let me know when I could order a 2006 (didn't even ask about pricing). And, just my .02, stay very far away from Ted Britt Ford...VERY FAR AWAY.

I really have my heart set on an '06 Stang Vert, but there is no way I can justify $35K to $40K for a MUSTANG (and no way would my wife go for it!). I think I will just wait and see what shows up in AutoTrader or Carmax in the next 18 mos. I mean, I really like the Stang, but for $35K, there are so many cars that would be a better "deal" for me.

I got my GT from Ted Britt in Fairfax, and I had no problems whatsoever. Paid sticker for it, and the car arrived 2 months exactly from when I ordered it. What was your experience that caused you to stay away?

Whatever you do, don't go to Koon's Ford in Sterling. :notnice: I personally had issues with them and made an official complaint to Ford Corporate. In the end, Ford gave me an X-plan pin number (which Koon's wouldn't accept). I went to Jerry's of Leesburg and have been happy with their customer service from day one.

Thats for sure what you said about Cowles. They took my order at MSRP, then told me just before the car came in that there was an MSRP increase I needed to factor in at delivery. I took in the e-mail that KARPRO posted a couple months back that talked about Price Protection, and Cowles never said another word. Paid them what my order sheet said was "Balance Due" and drove home. You can rest assured I won't be taking the car there for service.

I think these prices are only going to last for a few more months. Next year some time supply will catch up with demand and the price will come down to a more reasonable level. We might even see some discounts if Chevy comes out with a retro Camero in 07.

Well, I am sure every dealer has good stories as well as bad stories...mine was bad. I bought a 91 Stang new when I lived in Maryland, then moved to Fairfax, and had Ted Britt Ford do some warranty work, they were never able to fix the problem, they dented my car while it was on their lot and refused to fix it, I ended up with nails in two of my tires after picking it up one time, and the last time I took it in, they called and said that they couldn't fix it, and I would need to have it towed to the dealership I bought it from! Once it had been towed to the dealership I bought it from (in Laurel MD) they called me and asked me who had changed my battery (the car was only 3 months old with about 1000 miles on it) I said it should be the factory battery, they said it was a completely discharged no-name battery and looked very old...I can only assume the TB took my new battery and replaced it with a junker just to get one last gotcha on me. I have a manilla folder over 2 inches thick of letters to TB Ford, Ford Corporate, etc. I was so mad at that dealership, I spent the next 2 years going out of my way to tell prospective buyers about their business practices, now, I am still mad, but don't go out of my way.
