Just try and add hood struts and then hood pins. I have both and don't have any issues!

Dave...
I have both too.
First I installed the struts, but that didn't solve the problem. It was only after installing the hood pins, that the problem went away.
For Germany, I recommend buying the hood pins from PowerTorque Racing, which is a UK-based online shop.

Looks like I will have to order another set of pins. I already have the holes drilled in the crossmembers but sold the pins before drilling holes in the hood. The hood has lifted on me so many times that you can see a slight "buckle" in the hood, right where I cut the opening for the shaker scoop.

oh and guys, stay on topic. This is about the issue with the hood vibrating (lifting) at high speeds and not about how people drive.

I didnt have hood shake at all for about 7 months after I bought the car. But just the other day it started to shake at 90mph. I fixed it by adjusting the rubber bumpstops on the body. With your hood closed go to the edges on either side and lift it up. If that moves with little or no effort then adjust the rubber bumpstop. You twist it left to bring it up. I fixed mine by adjusting it up until the hood no longer can be pulled on without some insane force. I also made sure that the hood stayed flush with the body. I ended up having to twist one right to bring a side down. They dont like to be threaded back in but you just have to watch the rubber threads.

Our 06 v6 spends a lot of time between 80 and 85 (speed limit out here is 75mph).. and I never noticed the hood shaking.

Last weekend I made a point to check if the hood shook at higher speeds.. and at indicated 105 there was no hood shake..

The hood shake is easily seen if you take your car in a touchless carwash. Watch the hood as you drive through the high power blower. First time is saw my hood quivering like that I freaked. Then I noticed it at high speeds. Very glad I first discovered it going 2 MPH in a carwash rather than when I was flying on the highway.LOL. I've seen that BOYRACER hood has the Cobra style hood vents and also appears more rigid. Hope it helps.

Mine just did it for the first time the other day. (it's 10 months old) I was accelerating from about 50 to 90 while passing someone. Also, it was a very windy day. Combine that with the speed and the turbulance of passing someone and the left side of the hood started to shake.
When I got home I noticed I could grab the front left edge of the hood and shake it, but the rigth side was solid. I think I'll try adjusting the hood stop on that side as suggested above.

Had car at 140 Christmas Day. Did notice hood shake, not sure what speed it started at. Don't plan on going that fast again! Did notice a whistling kind of noise. BTW we were on an empty well paved road, and would not have done this if other cars were around. No need to hurt anyone out there!

OK, old thread...

Is there a solution to this?
I drive my 2005 Mineral Grey GT on UK expressways at ~120mph (between 190 & 200km/h & above) every day.
I am starting to worry about the day that bloody hood will fly off the car.

The first time I drove the car, I stopped to see if something was wrong.
After checking everything... nothing!

It just seems that the hood lifts off the car at ~90mph & just "floats" on its center pin.

I'd love to be able to stop this somehow without having any apparent exterior modification done to the car. I love this car, but hood lift usually isn't a current issue on standard European cars...

Try installing hood struts and adjusting the rubber bumpstops located behind the headlights. If this doesn't work, I'm afraid you'll have to start considering hood pins.

I did this, and have not noticed it since, but I tend to be mostly watching the other cars a lot more at high speed than the hood.
It did shake enough to easily catch my attention before.

18 hours to Wichita Kansas from Glouscter Va (74 avg mph), 21 hours back though, can't rember but I think I did Newport News Va to Milwauke Ws in 18 or 19 (49 avg mph), and just did Glouscter Va to Manchester Nh in 12 (50 avg mph) IIRC. All driven to and fro straight with only occasional breaks for food/bio

Thanks Louie,
but don't hood struts push the hood UP?
Exactly what I'm trying to avoid: the hood lifting off the car on the front corners at "higher" speeds.
Of course I tend to notice this a lot more when I'm nearly alone on the road.
Nevertheless, I searched for hood struts & came up with the following:
http://www.redlinetuning.com/QL-FORD-MUS-05+.html
http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com...splay/666.html
http://www.mrt-direct.com/2005/Pages/hoodprop.php
http://www.showngoplus.com/pl_must_2005.php
I think you'd need to invert one of these kits!
but then again, it is the front end corners that are lifting off, & these struts are fixed to the back end of the hood...
I'll try adjusting those "bumpers" many have mentioned here, but I won't get my hopes up.
