sooo getting 2 new tires....

got a few questions in here folks so bear with me hahahah

my parents offered to buy me 2 new tires for the car as an early birthday present (ill be 28 come sept 21st). Im just going to be getting 2 more Pirelli P-Zero Nero tires P235/55R17. I have not had a single problem with the ones that are on there right now (they are actually the original ones that came with the car, 4 years old approx 38k miles) and since im only getting 2, i dont want 2 different types of tire, it would look ridiculous.

what im going to do is move the ones that are up front to the back and put the new ones on the front. i never rotated the ones that are on there now so the front ones still have some life left to them. ill prob be replacing the other 2 in a month or so but seeing as how its the summer, money is tight. Since im about to go on vacation with the car this sunday (lake george with the girlfriend), i figure ill get 2 new ones for the trip (the rears DEF need to be replaced).

now my questions are....
1) has anyone ordered from either discounttiredirect.com or tirerack.com? this will be the first time i ever order tires offline and get them installed. usually i just buy them at the shop and they put them on right then and there. tirerack has them for 129.00 each with a grand total, with shipping, of 279.73...lets say 280 total (that includes shipping and nothing else). discount tire has them for 140.00 each with a total of 321.00 (that includes free shipping, their certificate for refund or replacement and valve stems)

now i know what your saying, obviously go with tirerack. well discount tire guarantees they will beat anyone so i emailed them with tireracks price and will be waiting for a reply (they say withing 24 hours). also, discount tire has their "certificate for refund or replacement" added into that total of 321.00 (along with valve stems for 3.00 each). tirerack has no replacement deal or anything or valve stems.
2) has ANYONE ever gotten tires from discounttire and used this replacement option? wondering if its worth it.

it would help alot if i could get some of these questions answered within the next 24 hours. only because i wanted the 2 new tires for my trip upstate this sunday morning. i can def make the trip with the tires that are on there now, no problem, but id def feel more comfortable with 2 new ones on there.

thanks in advance. as i always say TMS FTW!

I am a discount tire customer for life...that is unless they screw me over some way. They have always taken very good care of me. I think its still 15 bucks for a tire replacement when you buy the warranty. Good deal.
there are better tires out there than the stockers for about the same money or less. Mismatched tires will not kill you for the couple months if you go that route. Last time I got tires it was discounttireDirect.com great deal.
Do you have a tirerack store near by? If not thats another reason to go with DT.

I've bought probably 8+ sets of tires from Discount Tire. They match any price, if you don't get a reply, go to a store, they'll do it right on the spot. I've bought that warranty for every tire I've ever bought, and I've had to get several replaced due to a hole in the sidewall, nail hole too big to patch, etc. They have NEVER argued with me on any point. Can't fix this one, do you have the warranty? OK here's your new tire.

These days, everyone is looking for the best deal. Discount Tire will not only match the best deal you can find, they are the most upstanding, customer focused retailer I've ever dealt with, automotive or otherwise. Like it was said before, where's the TireRack.com stores? You can shake a hand with these guys, and at every single store I've ever gone to, every person I've interacted with is the same, great service, no BS.

BUY YOUR TIRES FROM DISCOUNT TIRE!

I stopped reading after... my parents offered to buy me 2 new tires for the car as an early birthday present (ill be 28 come sept 21st). 28 and your parents are buying tires for your car? WOW! My son is 20 and he hit a brick on the 565 interchange. Bent his wheel and screwed the tire. $132.00 for a new wheel and $157.00 for two new tires. Guess who's paying for it?
