So thats where all my money is going....
If you guys don't already have one, you need a custom tune from, say Doug at Bamachips.
I'm running a 91 octane torque tune and I was doing 28-29 mpg last night on a short 40 mile round trip. Cruise 65mph.

16 miles / day, 6 days a week for over a year, plus 500 mile trips. That would seem to add up to way more than 5200.
Pfft...
I recently switched jobs and until I get closed on a house, I'm commuting 1.5 hrs one way.
I'm paying over $500/mth in fuel.
On the bright side, I'm getting the best fuel econ I've ever gotten in the GT...24.5 mpg.

I'm quite happy with the milage on my GT - 18 or so around town and 25-26 on the highway at 70+ mph. In fact in 25 years of driving, this is the best gas milage I've ever gotten in a vehicle. It comes down to choice - gas probably won't get any cheaper, ever, than $2.50 a gallon so either you enjoy the Mustang for what it is and the smiles it gives or save a few bucks and buy a Prius, Civic or something even smallet than them. And just be gald you don't have to put 300 gallons in everytime you fill your boat - now that is pump pain at $3.89 a gallon!
After all these years,

Wow a stick FOR SURE does better than my car.
I just took a thousand mile roadrip-
3 tanks of gas and still a half tank left over.
Eleanor would have taken at least four and came home sucking fumes.

Feel free to quote me on this maybe Ford should use it as a slogan in an advertising campaign.
But only 'cause the trans is going out in the Honda.

You should read Take This Job and Ship It.
The book opens with a mind-numbing list of personal stories and specific closures of once-great American companies - the makers of Etch-a-Sketch, Hula Hoops, Fruit of the Loom, Fig Newtons, Levis ... the list goes on and on. A particularly poignant anecdote relates how the workers at Huffy Bikes spent their last days on the job peeling the trademark American flag off the handlebars and substituting stickers of the globe in its place.
