Angry SLP crappy tips and cancel product warranty

I installed the SLP powerflo axle back system on my wifes 2006, right after she got it. Installed Dec 05

The first pair of tips started seperating around the lip area (Feb 06). Replaced under warranty by SLP.

Then the next set did it (Apr 07)! Replaced under warranty by SLP.

Then another one did it (Aug 07), replaced under warranty by SLP... SLP CANCELLED the lifetime warranty.

They (Mr. Stellhorn) blamed me for cleaning them with an abrasive buffer. I only clean this car with a towel, which was once used in our linen closet.

I attribute the seperation to vibration, since it is a dual wall design. They blame me for its failure becuase they "rarely" have them fail and replaced under warranty.

Had my loud mouths on since like jan or feb 2005. Still look brand new. I keep reading these stories so I check them every time I wash the car. Everythings good with mine.

Isn't that funny how businesses always seem to find a way to blame the customer? It couldn't possibly be an inferior product?

I'd file a complant with the BBB and let them respond to this failure to communicate with their customers and product warranties.

SLP's products for the Mustang are garbage. A hanger broke off my Powerflow's last week, I took them back to the shop I bought from and they will warranty them, then allow me to exchange the new set for something else. I'm gonna use that money for a set of BMR lower control arms and a K&N intake. I bought the Ford Racing GTA's to take place of the SLP mufflers.

"Covered by SLP’s Performance Guarantee and limited lifetime warranty " i guess that's their out. good luck. i personally wouldn't buy anything from slp, it's junk

On the surface, this always seems like the proper solution to a problem like this. Unfortunately how valuable is your time, and how much would you spend on a lawyer. You'd go bankrupt trying to take every manufacturer to court for not honoring their warranty.

I'm not sure what I'd do in a situation like this. I guess I'd email SLP and make it known that I plan to let everyone on the Internet know about their poor business practice. See if it goes anywhere from there.

Ive had my loud mouths for amlost 2 years now and they still look good as new. After reading this I went out to the parking lot at work and checked.

That really sucks that SLP is treating you so bad, I hate it when mfgrs blame the customer for their product failures.

SLP Loudmouth's are known for their weak welds. It's hit or miss apparently.

It's not just the Loudmouths that have the bad weld problem, the Powerflows are the same way. Overall, very inconsistent quality of their parts. My Powerflows didn't even come with instructions, and the box looked like it had been beaten with a sledge hammer when it showed up. Thankfully, nothing was damaged in shipping.

Thanks for all your support. I will e-mail them back and even type/print/mail them a letter of what I think and how I will spread the word. I felt like I was all alone in my issues with SLP and their quality products.

Lets just see what happens when a company won't stand behind their product!

That's from more than a year ago. This is not an isolated incident.

I guess I see the other side of this story. I can see a defective tip or even 2 but 4? with one owner when most others never have a problem? The statistics just point overwhelmingly at the owner is doing something out of the ordinary to these tips. Don't have any idea what but SLPs quality is not so bad that a single user would see 4 defective sets.

I also have a set of SLP loudmouths that are now close to a year old. They look as good as the day I installed them and feel confident that if they do seperate or break that SLP will honor the warranty.

SLP did honor the warranty but how many replacement sets do you think they should provide to a single owner? There is a practical limit where the owner needs to evaluate what is different about thier situation and look for a different product that will better fit thier needs as they are obviously different than the norm.

SLPs weld quality is not up there with some of the top brands but thier cost point is less than half of many of thier competitors. And the quality is far better than the costly Bassani exhaust I had on my 98 Cobra and Bassani's warranty is not worth the paper its written on...absolutely no coverage for failed cats or seperationg SS mufflers.....

You pays your money and you takes your chances. SLP is not the best out there but at thier price point, I still think they are a bargain and well made.

The stock GT tips are by far the best. You can't go wrong with a thick-gauged T-304 tip... The double-walled stuff just looks fancier.

SLP doesn't even list an e-mail address on their site, you have to call and talk to someone.
