REAR louvers- THAT would be cool on the 05

I had an 81 camaro in another life- that was the only cool thing on it.
I saw an '03/'04 Mach 1 with rear louvres. I thought they looked rediculous and out of place.

The Louvres I had on my '79 Cobra looked cool, but, they rattled, were hard to clean and hard to see well out of. [/b][/quote]
Absolutely true- a nightmare to clean. But but but... they look good.

Mine didnt rattle- my problem was the blasted T tops-if it rained I was getting wet. Thank the lord those things arent around anymore.

Guys, guys, guys...

I have to say this again, but this is the only place in the WORLD that I've seen people refer to 65-68 fastback vents as "louvers". They are VENTS, not louvers. Louvers are thin aluminum slats that go over the back glass to act as a sun shade. Like this:

On 65-68 fastbacks, they are functional air vents. I realize that they likely would not be functional on a 2005, but if you are emulating the classic, use the right term.

I realize that, but the first page is loaded with references to the fastback side vents as louvers. I'm just trying to clear up the issue.

it looks like the louvers in the 'motor trend' pic are part of the body, no seam. it would be nice to have that, but it may be tougher to get that with an aftermarket snap-on type of thing.
Very good point. I think that if the "vents" were on the cars, they would have a seem since they would be after-market and not actually a part of the car. I'm not they would look quite as nice in this case.

This is probably a better picture of they would look like. They're not formed to the car. You can see the seams.

Actually they are louvered vents: functionally they are vents; styling-wise they are presented in a vertical louvered form.

But Blake's right, some clarification on the first page may have been needed....

Agreed. I think it is an issue of terminology. Everywhere else in this Mustang universe refers to the fastback air extractors as vents, and the aluminum slats that often appear on 69-73 sports roof rear glass as louvers. "Louvered vents" is probably the most scientifically correct term for the afore mentioned air extractors.

I don't want anyone to think that I'm bent out of shape over this confusion, I just wanted to clear some things up.

JMSproductsinc.com is a company that already designs and manufactures side scoops and louvers, they replace the entir c-pillar on the 99-04 models. They dont really look great, but on their site they say that the 2005 scoops will be a direct replacement of the 1/4 window, since it does nto have a bolt on c-pillar. If it will fit into the 1/4, they should look pretty good.

The reason people were calling the side vents louvres on the first page was to differentiate between scoops and "louvred" rear quarter window treatment. The ones with slats are technically "louvred"

I realize that, but the term "louvers" is already taken by the aluminum slat rear window shades. That's why "vents" is a better term.
