Just wondering if there are going to be any options for painted side mirrors. I hated my 00gt mirrors because it was such a pain in the butt to get the wax off because of the grainy plastic.

For 2005 at least, there will not be any painted mirrors on the Mustangs, they are ususally on the Cobras.
With that in mind, you should be able to pick them up over-the counter in 2006,
Otherwise, the aftermarket might offer urethane or fibreglass mirror housings that can be painted.

IMO I want to just get replacement mirror's because the ones on the '05s look like they belong on a truck not a muscle car. Of coarse I would then go and get the replacement mirrors painted to match the body color.

Why they don't come body color (imports have been doing it since '87) is frankly, beyond me.
I don't suppose there's any chance the mirrors are heated either?
Frack! What a load of felgercarb.

I've never liked body color mirrors, it's one of the things I don't care for on the 03/04 Cobras (along with the wedge).

i like body colored mirrors. it ties everything together and makes it look like it was suppose to look that way, instead of a plastic mirrow not matched which looks like a cheap parts store repalcement.

Body color mirrors look good,
for those who haven't seen the car,
-The mirrors don't look huge at all in person, in fact the look fine.
-The fact that they are black ties in nicely with the wide black moulding across the top of the side window, IMO.

I agree, painted mirrors would complete the look. Ford should include that in the IUP. Black mirrors or any black trim just looks plain cheap. Also, the unpainted washer squirters really ruins the hood. Better yet, put them in the cowl where they belong. They used to chrome some trim, ie: side window surrounds, mirrors etc. They took this away as a sneaky way to save $ and we fell for it. On what level is dull black trim attractive?

I would just like to see ford put it as an option. As far as taking the factory mirrors and having them painted. heck by the time you have someone either smooth up the grainy plastic or put bondo you have put nearly 300 dollars just to get painted mirrors. I think it would be a good upgrade that ford could offer cheaper than aftermarket.

Another little tip for the mirrors. If you use Mother's Back to Black it removes wax and other residue from mirrors and all black trim. I use it on my mirrors and weatherstripping. Works great. Takes about 30 seconds to clean my mirrors up after using my polishing equipment (which tosses glaze and wax all over the place).
