Hey hey everyone,

this may seem like a silly question, but I'm going to a wedding in Vegas (from L.A.) this weekend and I'm debating whether or not to drive my beloved pony. On the one hand, it's a great chance to "stretch her legs", so to speak, and on the other hand, it's 600+ miles in one weekend. Also, I've heard alot of stories of people's cars being messed with down there, so I'm also considering lowering my insurance deductible for the weekend. Also, I've heard of some pricey speed traps down I15.....

Wadday'all think?

I say go for it. You only live once. Bring a camera and get some cool photos of your ride out in the desert, vegas lights, ect.

I drove from Vegas to Ventura 2 weekends ago, no problems at all. But I was going opposite most of the traffic. In fact, on our way home on Sunday, the line of traffic headed towards LA was unbelievable! I'd say it was constant headlights at least 50 miles, and the didn't look like they were moving too fast. That was Monday night, President's day.

I've been here since July, and have never had a problem with anyone messing with my car, but I don't visit the strip very often.

You've got a clear shot all the way and back, no rain or high winds thru Barstow, Baker and Vegas. Just watch out for road debris and don't drive behind those big rigs, can kick up rocks and other undesireable things. I'm sure the last thing you need are paint chips in the front end.

Hey, besides that, have a great time!

Depending on the times that you are driving I would say don't take it. If you are going Friday afternoon and returning Sunday night you are going to be sitting in bumper to bumper traffic from the 210 all the way to Vegas on the 15. On the return you will have bumper to bumper traffic as well. Not much room to stretch the legs on that trip.

You can avoid some of this by going out via pearblossom highway off of the 405/14 on the way to Palmdale. Those are actually some fun two lane roads but they can get congested with truckers.

If you can go late at night or very early in the morning. That is about the only way to avoid the congestion.

Good Luck!

When I was out there last spring. There were very few Kool Mustangs on the Stripe in Vegas. Mainly the V-6 rentals. Therefore I did not miss not having mine there.

Since your car doesn't looked to be dropped the nasty speed bumps in town shouldn't be a problem.

I've had mine to Vegas from Orange County. I had no problems at all, was worried about it being tampered with because Vegas is notorious for stolen cars. Everything was fine, parked at a casino parking structure.

I've taken it on two 1200+ mile round trips wiithin three weeks, so the driving it isnt a problem at all. I did pick up some paint and window chips, guess those are unavoidable anymore. Guy was driving a truck full of cement equipment, brooms and tools hapily releasing tiny bullets pelting every car around him. If it hadn't been that fool it would have eventually been a truck fool of sand or rocks I suppose.

My girlfriends dad suggested we take her 1995 Saturn sl2 for trips, since it's old and already pretty marred up. I don't think I'd trust that thing, keep trying to talk her into getting a 05 Mustang V-6

Ha ha, it's funny you should bring up the Saturn Sl2. that's what my gf drives and that was the next option! not nearly as fun as the Stang, though!
