Should i buy

I found a 2007 mustang gt with 180k miles for 5500. I already have a 05 gt. So I'm looking for a second car. The guy says miles are highway. And i assume they are because that's a lot of milage on a 2007. I was wondering how many miles you think I could get out of the stock engine. I have no problem with rebuilding the engine or dropping a new engine in it. I am just wondering if it's a good deal.

I would say it should last well over 200k miles. 5500 is that new tires new brakes, service records, one owner, clean body for the most part, no leaks?????????????

IMO, too many miles unless you can verify the maintenance history. If it truly is a one owner with no issues or serious needs, it might be worth a gamble, but you also could be looking at a potential 'money pit' with thousands in repairs in your future. Not only aggravating and expensive to own but the Mustang will still only be worth about $5,000 if you needed to sell and lucky enough to find a buyer.

New tires new breaks new battery within the last month. He is the first owner. He had a 5 hour drive to go see his girlfriend that he did 2 times a week. So that's why it has so many miles. I'm thinking that I will drive it until it does then it will become my project where I will pull the engine and put in a crate engine. Or I'd totally rebuild the engine and supercharge it. The car has one small door ding and that's it.

My fiancé is the one who will be driving my old one if I get this car. An the car she wants is a Mercedes slk that's probably why I don't see this car as being a money pit.

FWIW, all ponies starting in 2007 have the extra reinforcement for the GT500 engine. Might be important to you if you rebuild.

I haven't looked at prices... but what about just buying a manual transmission for yours?
Then you don't need another insurance payment or extra routine maintenance fees!

Or, instead of having two, sell yours and get a lower mileage manual?

At 180k miles, i'd start wondering just about general wear and tear. I'm sure it would be okay, but I'd always be wondering... belts, pumps, bearings, etc.
