Shifter Help 2007 Gt
I Drove My Friends Cobra And He Had A Short Throw Shifter In It And I Was Stalling Like Crazy And Missing Gears With It. Now As I Drive My Stock 07 Gt I Cant Stand The Shifter. I Need Something New, Any Suggestions On What I Might Like Or Need?

All the shifter kits have reduced leverage. That results in shorter shifter travel at your hand, and slightly more effort. The after market shifters are generally closer tolerance in the mechanism, so there is slightly less slop. Despite all this, the shifting action is all still controlled inside the gear box. That is where the shift gates are, they are not in the lever mechanism you shift the gears with (or replace). There are as many opinions as to what is the best one as there are shifters available. Do a search in the GT forum and you will find your answers (recommendations).

First of all, an R-Code is a totally different animal. Your problem was not the shifter so much , as is the difference in the clutch. However I think we all, here anyway, would recomend upgrading the shifter to either MGW, Hurst, TriAxe or Pro 5.0 for some examples. That'll at least get you started. Very easy install, and you'll be able to bang some shift's with the stock clutch. If you get serious into it, eventually, after some engine mods, you'll need to look into centerforce or others. Your not going to be able to duplicate the Cobra. That is the one thing I do miss most with my S-197, over my R-code. But the trade off's were worth the switch, to me anyway.

Hurst makes a good cheap shifter, but with the Hurst the shifts are meant to be notchy. MGW also makes a good but expensive shifter, the MGW will be a very smooth shifter.
I love my Hurst.
I love my Hurst.

Short Throw Shifter
I have the MGW and it is great. I do not believe there is another shifter out there that gives you the versatility that the MGW has. Besides excellent quality of materials, you can adjust the length of the shifts and adjust the shift handle either right or left or up or down.

I love the Hurst shifter I have, but then again its the only I have tried. I went with it for looks and have really enjoyed the feel. You are right, the all things to all people stock shifter is sloppy to say the least.
