Shelby Razor Wheels ????'s

I know this topic has probably been beaten to death, but I've done a search and I couldn't find the information I was looking for.

What is the issue with the Shelby Razor Rims on the 05+ Mustang? Or is there none? I've heard the stuff that the standard tire size is not holding up to its expectations, meaning when cornering with the standard tires that the tires tuck under the rim and your literally ridding on the rim and causing damage? and also that when hitting bumps on the road, because of how far the wheels stick out, that anytime you hit a bump, the wheel well rubs and slowly destroys the tire?

can anyone confirm these facts? or can someone prove a FIX for these issues with these wheels? I LOVE these rims and I can get a hell of a deal on them from a vendor at a great price including tires. the vendor supplies Nitto tires. How good are Nitto tires?

I've never heard this about these wheels. Maybe someone was using tires that were too narrow for the width of the wheels, and/or was using a wrong offset. With the right offset the wheel should not stick out.

I know that they run closer to the wheelwell than most. Most people run a 255/35/20 on the 20X9 (24 offset I think) because of this issue. If you go bigger and are lowered, you may have an issue.

I like Nittos- have run them on my Fox mustangs for years. However, there are newer, more modern design tires out there that would benefit an '05+.

I have some of the Razors with Nitto 555's but it will be a couple of weeks before I'm able to put them on so I can't be of any help. I haven't heard of any of those problems though. I know cgoeschel had the exact same setup on his old mustang that I will have on mine. He never mentioned any problems with them that I know of.

Yeah, they are starting to grow on me, a lot. I may have to go that route on my Shelby eventually. I think you would have to get bigger rear brakes to fill the wheel a little better though.

I'm definitely getting those wheels as well. That's the first I've heard of any fitment issues. Tire Rack shows both the 18" and 20" as fitting the S197. What is weird is that they only show the chrome one and not the silver with machined lip which is the one I want.

Shelby Razors just installed ... 20"x9" +24mm offset. 265/35-R20 Nitto Extremes all around. I went with a slightly wider and taller 265 tire.
My car is lowered with Saleen springs. I love the look , it rides and handles Great and NO Rubbing !! -- even after some pretty aggresive driving in the mean streets of NJ!

Do the tires clear the front bumper when turning? I was thinking about going with a 265 front tire, but was worried that it would rub when I turned. Those wheels look awesome on your car though!

Tires do not rub at all on the front or rear. I've taken some tight turns,
driven aggressively and no problems to report.

That looks awesome! I like the idea of having 265/35's instead of 255/35's to give a little more sidewall and width. But at $189 vs. $143 each at Discount Tire Direct, I don't know if it's worth it. Where are you guys buying these?

See post #280 on page 14 for the issue. I guess you're okay unless you try to go really wide and significantly lower the car.

They are anthracite in color. I bought them from a vendor on Ebay --
He changed the tire brand / size for me for a slight upcharge. The guy I dealt
with is named Tyler -- good guy to deal with had everything shipped the next day --
his phone # is posted in the ebay add -- I just ordered over the phone.
If you call him tell him John V. sent you. Good Luck!

Good idea on the tire upgrade. I've never heard of Vredestein? Let's see some more pics!
