Shaker 500, weak?

It's all relative.
Is the 05 a perfect car? No. I don't think anyone expects it to be.
Will it rattle? Of course.
Can you stop it from rattling? Of course.
Will there be some issues? Of course... it's the first year of an all-new vehicle. It's naive to think there won't be any issues, but the ones that have been identified are pretty minor, and all have fixes available.
Just goes with the territory in getting a first-year car. Well worth it though IMO.
As for the Shaker 500, I can't speak to that. I have the 1000, and have no issues with it.

But seriously, I haven't noticed a big difference with the '03, but I also never had a chance to drive them back to back. I had sold my '03 a couple of months before my '05 came in.
And yes I must say you seem to have good taste in Mustangs!

Stereo, brakes, being able to put your elbow out the window comfortably, and driving with the windows down over 50 mph were all better on the '03. Low end torque is lacking also, but that's the same problem they've had ever since the 4.6L came out.
Everything else is not only better, it's far better. Ride, ergonomics, handling, over-all power, styling, ride height (no more 4x4 look), shifter and many others.

Unless you have something very, very neat and unique, there's no tweeters in the overhead console. Those little grilled openings are the locations of the motion sensors for the optional anti-theft system.

FWIW, I've had my '06 vert for 4300 miles now, and the Shaker 500 has been perfectly fine. Sounds great, especially for a factory unit.
