Shaker 500 HU Freaked Out This Morning.

OK I know people have had issues with the HU skipping and etc but mine did something this morning I have not seen anyone mention before.
I took my son to daycare this morning and CD was playing just fine.
Got back in started the car and no sound from the HU.
I turn the volume up and it doesn't move for 2-3 seconds then volume bars raise but no volume. Mute button is not pressed as I tried that too.
I then turned it off, it did not respond for another few seconds then shutoff. Would not come back on for about 2 miles of driving. Setting at stop light I press the eject button and it spits out every CD.
Still wont come on.
Another half mile and it comes on, I load CDs and it seems to be working fine now.
WTF ???

That is very strange. I have had my Stang since Feb of 05 and never had any problems with the Shaker. This morning mine did exactly what you say yours did. I'll keep you posted and could you please do the same.
Thanks,
Michael

Today, mine did something very similar. Had the volume problem, and the radio took about 20 seconds to turn off after I shut-off the car and opened the door. Once it turned off, I turned the car back on and had no problems. Very wierd.

It's definitely odd that 3 of us had the same problem today. Although, I have seen a similar problem with my Shaker 500 once before. The problem is that getting this fixed by Ford might be tough since the problem doesn't seem to appear very often. Maybe if it happens again, I can drive straight to the dealer without shutting the car off and show them the problem.

Anyone else having this problem and get it fixed by Ford?

That happened to me on Shaker #2.......Thats when it officially pissed me off for the last time.

Now I have an 06 model shaker, and it works.

I had that problem a few months ago. I went to the bank then got back in my 06 and started it but the radio wouldn't turn on. I tried everything to get it working but it wouldn't play anything. I was by the dealer so I started to drive over there and right when I was about to pull in the service department the Shaker started working again. I talked to the technician and he said unless it isn't working they can't do anything. He told me to bring it back if the problem persisted. Haven't had a problem with it since.

I was just leaving to go out of town last weekend and as I was pulling out realized my cd was not playing even though it shows disc number and track. I tried to move it to another track, and another CD. Still nothing, so I tried to turn in back to radio and nothing. I was ticked there was no way I was driving out of town with no radio. I then tried to turn on my XM radio and all of a sudden the CD comes back on. I hope this does not happen again.

The Shaker 500 in my '06 GT has lost it's mind twice in 8 months. Pushing buttons or turning the car off and on always seems to re-set it. I thought maybe my wiring was jacked up from when they put a Ford remote start system in--evidently not.

Didn't want to turn my car off while driving down the road, although the thought did occur to me

I've had similar problem with mine twice now. It never spit out the CD's but once I had to disconnect the battery in order to get it working again. The other time it just started working after like 5 mins of driving.

Can't be. These things don't have a brain.

BTW, mine did the same thing once a couple of months ago. Radio on, no sound. Turning the car off/on a couple of times did the trick for me...
