I searched the threads but couldn't find any on this subject. I notice that my seatblet seems to lock up on me all the time. During hard acceleration and in turns it seems very sensitive. I know it is supposed to lock up during hard stops but it gets annoying. Sometimes I have a hard time getting it to unlock. I have never noticed this on any other car. Does it on both seats. Just wondering if this is normal or is there a problem with them?

Mine locks up fairly easily as well. Definitely gets annoying at times.

The easiest way I've found to "unlock" it is to pull the shoulder belt even tighter, hold for a second or two, then release. That usually unlocks it again.

It's definitely much more sensitive than on any other car I've had though.

I find it annoying at times also, but it is normal. I read in some Ford literature (probably the owner's manual, but I forget), that these cars are designed with special seatbelts that have a dual stage lock. Basically, they are designed to keep you locked in normally, but in an accident they will allow for some slack, and then lock again. So although they can be annoying, it is all in the name of safety.

Thanks guys......It's the only thing I don't like on the car. Guess I can live with it seeing how everything else about it is FANTASTIC!!

I kind of like it when it does that. Does it all the time during an autocross event. Holds me in the seat nicely. As for on the street, it does lock up easy. Again I don't mind so much, but it does take some sucking the chest in to unlock!

Ford's trying to make up for how terrible the Mustang seat belts have always been in the past.

Yeah, I've been annoyed by the seat belt lock up a few times also. Even gone so far as to unlock the belt & relock to allow it to give.

Never had this much belt sensitivity on my other vehicles, but as posted earlier, if this is my only small cmplaint I'll live with it. Otherwise the car is SWEET! :drive:

Every time you get on it hard, she gives you a hug, or was something like that some guy posted awhile back. I think of it that way and it's not nearly as annoying, just my car hugging me.

Personally I'm the sort that would be just as happy tooling around with a racing harness, so I don't find the belt locking objectionable.

I love how people are so annoyed with the safety features. Some even disable them. All I've gotta say is Natural Selection.
