sct tuner need help!!

What's up guys,

I have a tune from am bama and I finally got my gears done. To program the gears do I have to go back to stock and then reprogram my car with the run only this time set the ratio manually or can I just change the ratio without going through the above process

No need to return to stock, however you will need to reload the Bama tune using optional parameters (gear selection found there).

If you have an Auto you will need to email Bama for a new tune so they can adjust the shift points and converter schedules. You can drive in the meatime but it may be quirky.

Tim

You need an updated shift schedule for the gears, as well as your speedometer recalibrated for them as well. This is something we do for you at Bama. Simply order a tune file update from us (if you're a Free Tunes for Life member, which I assume you are) and we'll shoot updated tunes over to you!

You can drive the car without the right gear ratio in there. It's just going to shift a little early or a little late in each gear until the MPH is corrected. Just be aware that the speedometer is off, don't get any speeding tickets! Call Bama when you get a moment and they'll get you new tunes loaded into your programmer. You can even get the tunes loaded in the programmer and flash the car with the new gears entered in right there in the parking lot when you pick the car up.

Another temporary fix would be to flash the car again with the same custom tune that you're running, but under Adjust Options, change the gear ratio to your new ratio.

The rest of the shifting needs to be done by us (which is only a few MPH off), not like if the speedometer is off, which is much worse.

Also, does anyone know if the same is true for tire/wheel sizes? If you have an uploaded tune from an aftermarket tuner, can you change your own tire/wheel size to correct your odometer? Or do you need to have a new tune written for it?

Yes you can change it , but it's input as rev's per mile based on the tire diameter ...

How do you do it? Just reload the tune and does it give you the option to change parameters when you do?

Yes , when you select to reload the tune it will ask you if you want to change any parameters , unless your tuner turned them off and some do. In there you will set the rev's per mile , that's 20168 / outside tire diameter. You can calculate the diameter based on the width and aspect ratio , but that doesn't always match the actual tire diameter. I put a ruler on top of the tire and measure the actual diameter. Which ever way you use , for the number you get you'll need to find the closest number in the table and use that. Then when you're done it'll ask you if you want to load the tune ...
