Not having a VIN means nothing. None of them will untill September. As long as its in the order bank in order before they run out of their alottment you should get it.
Good deal, I will keep my fingers crossed. I found out today that my order is the *third* retail order for this dealer (four total, someone ordered one the day after I did). How many did you say again each dealer was getting for the first allotment? At least it's a decent sized dealer, hopefully they'll get three.

hey kevin...i know you're stoping in here often...and i was just wondering if i should even bother to ask my dealer what number my car is to be ordered. sometimes i get the fealing 'my guy' is kinda ignorant on the subject, and i would just get an, "i really couldn't tell you" even if i did ask.

is there someone else i could talk to that would know? inventory guy? manager? (all this assuming the guy who took my order wasn't sure) i would like to know where i'm at, and how many they actually plan on ordering. no sense in getting to stoked if i'm #4, but they are only ordering 3 initially.

thanks for any help.

With all due respect to dealers, they generally know next to nothing. If the JOB1 date was going to be moved up from September 7th, you would hear about it here much sooner than from your local dealer ... they are the last to be told.

Experience. Over the past year or so, we have heard so much crap come out of the dealers, it's amazing. And how much of it turned out to be true? Zero. On this forum you have a good cross section of people, including salespeople and other dealer representatives, folks who work for suppliers for Ford, or work for Ford itself, some even work at the plant where the Mustang will actually be built. There is a much larger base of knowledge here than you will find at a single dealership.

There is no formal training yet on Mustang at the dealer level, the only things they know are what is self-learned.

It gets tireing hearing about what "my dealer said" I know.

Going back a little ways on this thread.. I did order under the x-plan and did receive a DORA fax with an order #. Acording to the previous posts, does this dispute the fact they will not accept x-plans right away? If not, it must mean Ford will honor the order but will "choose" when to do so.

The dealer is small and only has 2 allocations.

Ordring a unit has nothing to do with its selling price. Its just a unit to Ford. The dealer decides what they let it go for. FORD decides if there is an x-plan available(because they pay back dealers money when they are sold). I would assume they have an x-plan in the structure from the very begining. If they dont, its up to you and the dealer what the vehicle sells for, they also can decide to NOT allow an x-plan purchase, but most dealers will not disallow it unless its on something like a mystic cobra or a pacific coast roadster t-bird, harley truck, etc. I cant really see them shooting down mustang coupe/gt x-plans.

I have already generated my PIN for an X-plan. Since the type of car is entered, doesn't this mean that Ford will accept the discount?

Since the PIN is given only towards the purchase of the car entered into their system, and a PIN was generated for the '05 Mustang GT, I would think that Ford has to honor it. Just my opinion, I have in writing that my dealer will give me X-plan pricing, so I'm not worried.

or GE, Lockheed, General Dynamics, Bechtel, some employees of Hertz, etc...and the list goes on and on and on...even TV networks Bravo, NBC, and telemundo because they are owned by GE.

you should all check with your employer, you might just be surprised

McD's employees that work for the company, not one of the franchises, would be my guess...because they only license the company name and food, but dont actually work for the company.
