Sagging and wear in red leather

Actually I did condition the leather twice since I got the car 5 months ago.
I have almost 5000 miles on it so far.
Here is a better view of the driver's seat:

How fat are you?
I have a '05 Black coupe with the red leather IUP. I've had the car for 4 months and the drivers seat has just started to show some very light "wrinkle wear" from use. However, my wear is only a few lines on the front cushen (the part under your knees) and the rest of the drivers seat is fine. My drivers seat is not nearly as wrinkled as the seat shown by the gentleman who started this thread. I will post a picture within 2 days to this thread to show.... I'm currently away on family travel & will return home soon.
I agree with other posts on this thread to use a leather conditioner WEEKLY (starting 1st week the car is on the road) to avoid any wear marks at all. I feel I likely have a few minor 'crinkles' on one section of my driver seat because I did not follow this advice on leather interior cleaning until 3 months after I got the car. :bang: Depsite the fact that the exterior of my car is babied as is appropriate for a black car, I did not start using leather conditioner until recently. However, ever since my car has been on the road --- it has always been parked & stored appropriately. It has never been parked for extended periods in the hot sun or severe weather. It is garaged nightly & it is also in covered parking while I am at work. Careful parking/storage of your car is also important part of interior care. I would not trust the tinted windows to protect the interior fully.
IMHO leather interiors -- domestic or imported -- will show signs of wear/drying out unless you maintain them meticulously. I've seen plenty of late-model higher-end domestic cars w/ leather interiors that were on lease to corporate executive types for periods of 2 to 3 years. None of these cars ever got a single interior cleaning in 2 or 3 years and were likely left parked outdoors from time to time in the hot sun for extended periods. At the end of 2 -- 3 years the leather interiors looked like crap because of neglect and careless parking/car storage.
I now use the motorcraft leather conditioner kit (2 in 1 cleaner w/ sponge applicator) on a regular basis and I clean ALL seating surfaces. Front & back of the bucket seats, the rear seats, etc.

Could be caused by snail trails too..
good one!Actually I weight 185lbs, so if that's too much for the seats...
It is more than just the leather seat cover. The foam cushion under the seat cover is also very soft and is loosing its resiliency. I compared a replacement seat cushion to the original one in the '05 GT I previously owned, and after only a month and a half, you could feel the difference.

I have only 1600 miles, and have started to notice some wear on the driver's seat. Pass. seat looks good so far. Not too happy about it!

I have had my Mustang since Dec. 21st, 2004. I drive it daily, but after only a few months I noticed some serious ware and tear. I condition it and clean it every 2 weeks or so. After less than half a year this happened.........

As you can see the stitching has come up!!! i am so upset that ford could not have done a little better job. I am going to the dealership this saturday so they can "inspect it" so they can order whatever they need to in order to fix this! has anyone else had this problem?

My seats have started to get some wear and wrinkling (notably one major crease on the door side of my seat). I have to admit I've been using Meguires every other month on my seats. It looks like I'll have to step that up to one a week or once every other week. I expected some wear on my seats though. It doesn't help that I'm short and portly and kind roll out of my Pony instead of standing straight up
I have a hard time covering my leather up after paying so much for it. I'll just switch to Lexol and apply it weekly. I did notice if you leave a sweater on the seat for more then a few hours it sucks all the moisture out of the leather.

Just ordered Zaino Ultimate Protection Show Car Kit which is a bit expensive ($116.95 plus 8.95 s/h = $125.90), but it comes with everything you need to baby the inside and out. And with 300 miles on her so far, I guess I'll be doing the weekly rub down on those seats as well.

I've read somewhere that the majority of wear in leather seats comes from those with too much design work.
Mustang leather seats have numerous stitch lines and crevices in them, but your typical sport seat from Volvo, BMW and MB has just single-panel rear, single-panel bottom, and single-panel side bolsters. You'll rarely see those seats show wear unlike the Mustang leather seats pictured in this thread.

A lot of it has to do with the quality of the leather too. GM & Ford use a pretty cheap leather compared to the imports. If you haven't done it, just sit in an Infiniti, and you'll notice what I'm talking about.
Autothing. I see you watched the psycho lady to. a few cards short of a full deck... maybe a lot of cards.
I agree about the stitching, but if mine comes up during the warranty they'll be replacing the seat covers on both front seats. Extra detail just means you have to use better materials.

Thank you Cable Guy -- "the God Warrior" has changed the world of frightening Avatars forever with her appearance, eh eh eh...
Yes, I definitely wish everyone good luck with their seats -- I guess they can't always remain new even if the vehicle is, so we'll have to give Ford leeway so long as the engine doesn't fall out.
