Hi guys,

This is something I've noticed and someone else has pointed it out to me in another topic ( http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=33540 ): the seat cushion seems to have sagged a bit, and the leather shows wear and wrinkling. You can see it in the attached picture, mainly on the seating surface. The passenger's seat is OK though, but it hasn't been sat on as much as the driver's.
Is there a solution to this? Would leather conditioner help prevent this from happening?

Have you used a conditioner on it since you bought it? I found that after about 6 weeks the wrinkles started to appear in the seat. I use conditioner on it about every 6-8 weeks. It helped it a bit, but I think they will all eventually wrinkle from the leather stretching.

that would make me mad if that happened to me, it doesn't look very nice and the car should still look new. how many miles are on your car?

Actually I did condition the leather twice since I got the car 5 months ago.

I have almost 5000 miles on it so far.

This is typical of Ford leather. As a 6 time stang owner this leather always does this. Thats why I drive with a towel on the seat of my 93 Cobra. It only has 10,000 miles on it but its going to drive me nuts when my 06 starts doing this.

I had the same thing happen in my CLK, but not as bad. Both front seats were changed 3 years ago under warranty. Today, the seats look perfect.

Take it it back to the stealer and demand a new seat.

I use Meguiers. They have like a conditioner and cleaner in one. Like 7 bucks at autozone.

I've had mine (w/red leather int.) for nearly a year now and I have 22900 miles on the car and have no sagging or wear at all.

I use a conditioner on it everytime I was the car (weekly or more).
I can't be sure thats helped.. but it shows no wear or wrinkling at all.

Well my take on it is the friction of sliding in and out of the drivers seat so I put a towel on it and it buffers the friction of my weight rubbing and pushing against the leather. Does it work? I bet you it helps but realistacally are you going to drive with a towel everyday?... I would.

Do you put it on just the leather or the non-leather parts of the seat too? What kind of conditioner do you use? The other thing i'm wondering is how heavy everybody is. Not to be rude or anything. Does being heavier wack the seats more? I would think it does so big guys might have to really make sure to condition the seats?

Frpm my experience that's the worst product out there for leather. I used it for the first few months I had my '03 and I wasn't too impressed. I bought the seperate cleaner and conditioner made by Blue Coral (it's the cheap, Brand X stuff) and it worked GREAT compared to the Meguiers 2-in-1. The Blue Coral is good, but there are MUCH better products out there.

Here's my take on why your seats look the way they do:
1. The 2-in-1 stuff isn't as good as the seperate cleaner and conitioner.
2. It's leather. That's just what leather seats do.
3. It's Ford leather. That just amplifies reason #2.

Reason's 2 & 3 are why I didn't get leather this time and don't ever plan on getting it again.

My experience with leather seats is that over time they will stretch (sag) and get something like a cracked look. I have used conditioner on the seats which helps some. The leather seats that have done this the most was on a 91 Cougar.

I used Lexol conditioner on my 97 Cobra black leather seats. Worked great.

You're still going to have a little sagging and wrinkles though over time.

I have red leather in my new 06 and am concerned. Like any leather product though there is a lot of variation (different cows, etc), which will show up in how the leather wears. In your case, it looks like premature wear and I'd have the Dealer replace the covers.

Sounds like a great excuse to start saving for some Recaro's.
