If someone is stopping you for 10 over during daylight, and you aren't giving them some other reason to want to talk to you (NORML sticker for example), then they have way too much time on their hands and have no idea about what enforcement is all about.

Off topic, but the 10 over depends on whats going on in the area. 10 over on the hwy is pretty lame, but 10 over in town, with kids crossing the street is something else.

on topic, my view on radar is the same as Trooper. I cant think of one officer that drives around with that radar/lidar on. standby yes.

use the $500 for mods and spend the other money on a day at the track.

Valentine One for me. Just traded in my 9 year old for a new one ($199).

I have been very happy overall with the V1.

Welcome to the world of the Palm Beach Sheriff's dept my friend

I don't want one so I can do 120 on the highway - I want one as backup to avoid when my brain lapses during a drive and I wind up a bit over the speed limit - and inevitably, that's when I run into a sheriff. The past two times its happened, I was courteous, all my material was in order and it didn't matter squat - I get the hard assed attitude (maybe because I am driving a stang?) and then I am out a few hundred dollars when all is said and done (ticket clinic)

I understand your viewpoint and that there are people out there who want a detector JUST to drive at Mach 2.5 - but ALSO realize there are some poeple out there who want to have one just to avoid the kind of situation I listed above.

The range is not as good as a wired one and as the battery discharges the range will drop.
I would not recommend one unless you have no other options.

Ahhh the attitude I am used to - there you go
I'll go turn in my car tomorrow

If you say you NEVER ever find yourself thinking about something else during a drive you are either lying or you are a cyborg

Yeah, that's rich...Barney Fife is right...like they never let each other off when they see another cop speeding. I know a local county cop who is an absolute great guy and a good cop, but he loves telling the story about his wife blasting down the highway and they called him on the radio and told him that he needs to tell his wife to slow it down...didn't even pull her over.
I work for a Federal law enforcement department and those guys are the worst about it...they all have FOP (Frateral Order of Police) badges on their license plates so they can get off. I heard one guy complaining that a local cop actually gave his wife a ticket when she was speeding...and he was PISSED...he called the other cop a dick for not letting her go. My brother was a cop too for awhile...believe me I know all about it. Most cops by far are good guys, but a lot of them act like it's their birthright to speed, but when we get caught, they want to give speeches. I'm not buying it since I know better. Check out the Troopers instant messaging name in his profile..."KoruptKop" Yeah that's real funny isn't it...he calls himself Corrupt and lectures us. He's outed boys...

He's also got racer tune from Doug. I'm sure he goes to the track every time just to test it out....I don't want to get off topic so I will thank you for your help and knowledge of wireless radars. I will not be getting one. And Burke,I totally agree w/ you. This car is so smooth ,I have caught myself on the highway doin 100 and not even realized it

I think it'a great that you wasted the time to create a BS account just to try to mock me when it doesn't even close to sounding correct. Just remember... my TraCS computer is more powerful than your internet connection.

I think Trooper got spoofed and he doesn't appreciate it. No lectures but if you rely on a radar and/or laser detector to keep you out of trouble, you are kidding yourself. Yeah, it's fun to go fast but the streets, highway or surface, are not a controlled environment.

My trusty old BEL Vector 960 saved my butt yet again on Saturday morning. I'm looking to trade up to the BEL RX65 with the blue display or possibly the Escort 9500i. I always preferred BEL over Escort but now that they are the same company it doesn't really make any difference. I'd try the Valentine 1 except the false positives from my BEL drive me freakin' nuts and the V1 beeps for every little thing. The higher end GPS based BEL and Escort detectors are much better at weeding out false positives. Too many false positives and you begin to ignore real alerts - not a good thing.

Because it's an obvious attempt, by some clown in this thread, to turn an earlier post of mine, in this thread, around on me because my car failed inspection because the tune I'm running had a couple of readiness sensors turned off.
