I have rust on the rear axle, but it's just surface rust, nothing to be too concerned about. Dealer probably won't do anything about it.

I agree, but the car came from the factory with no paint/protection on the rear axle and it's steel so it gets surface rust on it. Since it came from the factory that way and it was designed that way, dealers probably won't do anything about it. The rust warranty only covers the painted body panels like hood, door, trunk, fender...etc. If you don't like the rust, try some POR-15 http://www.por15.com/. It's good stuff.

The rust warranty is for rust perforation. Essentialy they have to replace your panel if it rusts through in the allotted time.

The rear axle tubes were not painted from the factory (a real nickel-and dime thing). This won't be an issue at all.

There is plenty of untreated or phosphate coated metal parts that will rust on a car in a few months. While not pleasing to the eye, it doesn't affect their function.
