I just ordered my '05 GT (March 1st), and the owner commented that he was surprised that the order went through. He said he expected the order banks for the '05 GT to close any day now, as GT production was limited to only 30% of total Mustangs for 2005. He said that GTs could still be ordered after that, but that they would be 2006s. Get your orders in soon? Just hearsay. That's why I put it in this section.

I thought you could order right up to 06/24/2005.

Maybe they are starting to indicate they will be closing new orders earlier just to be assured to get the 05 backlog produced before they have to switch over to the 06 model on the production line. Especially on the GT's

Honestly, the less 05 GT's, the more rarity my car gains. Which is a good thing.

I agree, rare the new GT mustang will not be. If you want rare buy a YUGO.

from what my GSM has told me, the problem is allocation. Ford has not allocated cars to the Rental/ Fleet industry. That means most cars being built now are going to fleet.

We have three GT's on order for customers and one open order available. After that, its going to be 2 per month at the most. Again, thats what my ordering manager told me.

With that said, I can remember being told the same thing a couple years back on the Cobra and mach 1. They were available pretty quickly. I would say in the next few months they could be out there pretty good.

Convertible GT came in the other day, and it was absolutely gorgeous! sold in 5 minutes. someone followed the convoy truck in and bought it.

I aslo ordered on 1/8 and was told by my dealer that there is a hold on GT's because of a shortage of V8 parts. The rep from Ford is going to be at the dealership tomorrow. I told the owner of the dealership I want some answers.

Incorrect. We've had at least one forum member take delivery of a vert and a couple of others see them at dealerships. One of my local dealerships has one on their lot.

I picked up my Black GT yesterday 3/7/05 , was order 1/15/05 and built 2/14/05

Anyway, I was told yesterday that orders for GTs would be closed as of May 15th, as directed by Ford.
I was told this be the GM of the dealer I used.

hey guys new member here, i am a ford dealership employee(senior master technician) and have access to some material that can be helpful(feel free to ask or email me) anyway according to the last dealer news bulletin dated march 4 all 2005 musatng orders have to be at the plant by june24 2005, with back order cars being built(assuming parts become available) by aug 5 and 06 mustang production begining aug 8.
additionally ford lists three levels of "controlled commodities" or parts/options in short supply. they are listed as high, med, and low relating to probability of scheduling(high having a big risk of not being built and low having a good chance of being built or at least being scheduled to be built) the only ones that relate to US mustang gt's are the gt package, interior app. package, convertible, and the interior upgrade package all listed as a medium risk. this is good because it basically means that all options are still available just that production may be delayed due to a high amount of orders for cars with these options,
so rest easy any body that ordered a 05 mustang should still have it built by aug 5 unless parts become a bigger risk to come by

as far as i know that is not a factory option or a dealer option on 05 mustangs, have heard rumor of 06 mustangs having sirius satelite option though.
