RPM OUTLET - on my bad list

Is it me or does RPM outlet's customer service suck? I recently ordered a MotoBlue fuel gauge/fuel rail adaptor that I learned won't work with the Whipple. I'm trying to return it, but they make it so freakin difficult that it's almost impossible. They make you request a return # before you can send it back. I've requested it twice and I get a generic email from them telling me to request the number. You only have 15 days to return it so I think this stalling technique is part of their plan. They say after 15 days they will not accept the return.

Oh well. Now I know. I'm done with them.

This isn't the first bad experience that I've heard of with them...

Let me clearify my post a little. I did order my gauge pod from them as well. It was exactly what I needed and the price was right!. My issue is if you need to return something you are screwed. So I'll give them credit for the gauge pod. I just hope I don't have to return it.

Not to change the subject, but what did they charge you? I have that same kit with an AutoGage (made by Autometer) for $35.

CR I paid $39.00 for a center (top of dash) dual gauge pod. It's made by Pro Pods. It was ordered through RPM outlet, but drop shipped directly from Pro Pods.

Companies like RPM outlet are USUALLY the size of a shed with two computers, a fax machine, and a few phones. They set up with these companies to drop ship, and provide little-to-no customer service.

The adapter/fuel rail was what I was quoting 35 dollars on. The ProPods I am identically priced. No offense to RPM outlet, but you got a company with absolutely NO overhead other than computers, an electric bill, a UPS pickup, and thats about it. They call who they need to call and make killer money on customers. That's why they can afford those ugly advertisements that take up 3-4 pages of our favorite magazines!

They should tighten up their customer service. Nobody likes to take returns. Neither do I! But hey, if there's something wrong... you have to take the hit. They're just gonna give it back to their manufacturer and get credit anyway. The reason they're upset is because the few dollars that they made must now be used to send back to the manufacturer.

I can understand, but that's life... you can't just NOT honor returns.

There are countless of threads about RPM Outlet and their sh#tty service dating back over a year. I always do searches through the forums about companies before I order...like to see people's experiences first. I just got burned by a start up that never started up, so I'm even more cautious now.

yeah rpmoutlet sucks. They sent me the wrong part and they not only made me pay for the shipping back but gave me an attitude about it.

I hope you can get it returned; good luck.

I'm one of the guys that's had nothing but great luck with RPM. That being said, I've never had to return anything but none the less, their pricing and shipping has always been top-notch. I've spent probably a couple grand with them over the years, mostly on separate orders as money allows, and never an issue.

Good luck-

Tom

Call your credit card company nad they'll ****** the money back. Hell I know a guy around here that had a speed shop build his motor, once he got it he called the CC company and said he didn't recognize the charge. It is now on the compnay to tell them what went on.

They only issue you an 'in-store' credit as well instead of giving you your money back...Even when they make the mistake...I'd call your credit card and deny the charge....I have a return that took forever to clear up and can't get the money back unless I buy something else from them...leason learned...

I ordered a shifter from them only to find out (hurst shifter) that it was on backorder/engineering hold... something they didn't mention or indicate on the website.

after a couple weeks I just cancelled the order.

There's a guy over at FNSweet who always hammers RPM, and I never knew why. It sometimes bothered me, because sometimes people rail against vendors for little or no reason. Last time I saw it, I looked into why he was so ticked off at them and, DAYUM, did he have good cause!!!

Having read that, I thought the guy was actually fairly easy on them - if it were me, I'd have the above link on my sig!

Broken link, I'm interested in what this was about. I heard the guy on there with the $1195 big brake kit that never shipped, got a restocking fee, and then had to take store credit.

I agree do a chargeback... and then make them figure out how to pick up their part.

I've heard they are horrible as well. They're great as long as what you get from them is good and you don't have to return it... but once you have to return it... forget it.
