I still have my 81 T-bird w/ a 302 V8 that has a 2-bbl carb. It has a fast idle during cold starts and must be kicked down. But if you kick it down too early when it is too cold, there's a high probability it will stall out when coming to a stop until it is all warmed up. I tried kicking down the GT's idle but its controlled by the PCM and it is a 110% stock calibration (no SCT tunes involved).
