So after seeing the 18" blades I'm very tempted to pull the trigger for my GT.

That said, how would 18" wheels and complementary tires affect my ride? Would I feel every bump in the road? Net is that I'm not going to be tearing around corners so this is purely an aesthetic move and I don't want to kill the ride because it's my daily commuter.

Have I stated how much I like driving to work?

the smaller your sidewall the more bumps youll feel in the road, the sidewall on the fanblade tires doesnt look bad

It's not bad, but I can tell a slight difference. It won't kill the ride.
Are you getting an '6 or are you putting them on an '05? There's been rumors about softer suspension to go with the '06 18's.

Yeah, I've heard about suspension changes that go along with the 18" on the '06. If not, the ride would be a little stiffer.

My ride has firmed up a little bit, but not all that much.

The positives of the new tires outweigh the negatives by far - my handling is improved a ton.

With that said though, I don't know what tires they are pairing with the fanblades on the 06 - most likely nothing too spectacular.

It's a Mustang, so the ride will never be "supple" - IMO the 18s are the way to go.

There's as much rubber on the new 18's as there was for last gen GTs, SEs, and some Cobras.

Ryan, thanks for the info. Your pics are the primary reason I'm leaning so heavily towards the 18" wheels on my 05. They look great on your stang!

I was thinking that as well a while ago..... The overall tire+rim diameter has increased.

99-04 wore 245 45R17's. The sidewall accounted for 110mm.

The 05-06 with 18" tires will wear 255 45R18's. Sidewall accounts for 115mm. The stock 18" tires are about the same.

So actually, the 18" rims will have more rubber than the stock 17's of the last gen.

What? the 06 wheel option 64E fanblades come with 235 50R18's not 255/45's unless my DORA is wrong... now of course as soon as I tear through these stock tires, 255/45 BFG KDW's will be going on.

Yes, but I did mention that the stock was about the same. This should be obvious since the overal rolling diameter must remain within a percent or two......hence, sidewall height should be about constant REGARDLESS of what width of 18" tire you put on.
