My father walked into a dealer earlier this week in VA to give his deposit on his order for a GT convertible. He was told by the salesman that he shouldn' expect the delivery of the new vehicle until July......if it is built at all. ????? I asked my father what he meant by..."if at all."

My father questioned the same statement while with the salesman. The salesman responded by stating, "Ford has said that they will only produce 50K GTs and dealers have ordered 60K....so it may not get built."


I suspect that these are dealer alotted GTs vs. orderd ones? Anyone heard this before? Or is this salesman wrong? I haven't seen anything about this yet.

I would laugh in his face, then tell him he needs to stay out of the bathroom. The fumes in there has gone to his brains

 

If you take a few moments and read all the numerous past threads on what sales personnel have told members - that should give you a pretty good idea on what planet this guy is coming from.

 

I don't neccessarily disagree with the timeframe. With the amount of orders I've taken, I have been warning customers this past week that July wouldn't suprise me. I don't think it is at the point that they are sold out but a long wait is definetly not out of the question.

 

I dont know if I have ever seen a thread that started with "My local salesman said...." ever turn out to be true.
