Rental vehicle covered under warantee?

What the title states...

I'll be taking my 07 GT into the shop to get some work done... change the oil, fix my trunk light, and the thing that will take the longest: pin-pointing the cause of my rear end noise during low speed turning. While I think its related to a TSB for 05 'Stangs (rear diff chatter), I could be wrong. I've got a feeling they will need it for more than 1 buisness day (dropping it off at 9:30 AM). Is a rental covered under warantee in this case? If so, how do I proceed in getting one? I asked the tech on the phone about a rental, and he said they weren't covered. Knowing Ford's dealer's shady buisness (sad to say), I could be getting the end around.

Thoughts?

Sadly I think it depends on the dealership!

If you have a Ford extended warranty it seems like many dealerships will provide you a rental free of charge. If, on the other hand, the car is only covered by the bumper-to-bumper warranty you'll likely need to rent something...

When I picked up my Mustang there was a tiny paint defect on the rear bumper. The dealership repainted the bumper and rented me a sweet Kia Rio .

If my 06 has to be in the shop, under the extended warranty the dealershop provides a rental.

On the 05, I am SOL.

My salesman is driving up to Brookings from Sioux Falls (about 55 miles) to pickup my car today to do a little paint work on the front bumper cover, and He will drop off a Mustang for me to drive while they work on my car. It's why I keep going back to them.

I've had warranty work done twice and received a rental both times. First time it was obvious that the problem was going to be warranty so they set me up with a rental from the Enterprise satellite office they had on site. Ford only pays around $27 day.

Second time I had to tow the car in after hours and they had to do some work the next day to determine it was a warranty problem. That time I had to rent a car myself (from the same Enterprise satellite office) and they adjusted the cost of the rental the next day. I had to pay a small amount because the car I got was higher priced than Ford pays per day.

Instead of asking for a free rental car ask the dealer if they provide loaner cars.

Ive been told you must have the extended warranty to get the free rental. Some dealers though are nice enough to give you one anyway or most have a courtesy car to take you home and pick you up when your car is ready.

This dealer does offer a shuttle to take me home/pick me up, but I hate having 0 options for travel. I'm off work and the wife will be working. She'll be going out of town this weekend as well. If this work takes a few days, I'd hate to be stranded at home all weekend.

I think I have the extended warantee, I'll go outside later and check. But I could be (and probably am) wrong and only have the basic 3/36k warantee.

The extended warranty includes rental car coverage, the standard does not. I asked that when I was buying it all, and it was part of the reason I upgraded the warranty.

i think it depends on the dealer -- on several occasions, my dealer has provided free rental car well after warranty expired. just make sure you return with original amount of gas; they charge $5 per gallon to refill. (whack!)
