Thinking about getting factory remote start in the 05 v-6

the way i was taught was to start the car, let engine warm up 5 min or so before turning on the heat or ac, and when shutting car off, make sure ac/heat is off and fan blower motor was off.

so my question is this, you guys/gals with the remote start... in winter or summer, do you leave the fan blower on when your doing the remote start on cold mornings to help defrost the windows or on hot days leave the ac on to cool
the car off

maybe the cars are being built much better, but my old school thinking has
got me questioning the new remote starting

One of the main advantages of having the remote start is so that the interior of the car is cooled off/heated up by the time you get in it.

If you aren't going to have the blower either on AC or heat, blasting the interior, IMO the remote start is a waste of money.

I don't have remote start (I have a manual), but I always turn the heater and/or AC on immediately after starting the car (have in every car I've ever had), and have never had a problem.

I've never turned anything off when I shut the car off and so it's always on to that setting when I start the car. Never had a problem.

The car will automatically take power away from those devices to start the car.

There is no reason to change any settings just to start the car.

I hope you dont mean you dont have a remote start because you have a manual, they can be easily installed on those as well. As far as settings when getting out, thats the point of the remote start, get that heat going for cold days or get the A/C on for

I've installed remote starters on two of my wife's cars and my '99 Mustang. As someone else mentioned, the accessories are automatically cut off when cranking the engine, whether you use the key or the remote starter. We always try to remember to blast the heat in the winter the night before so its warm inside the next morning.

I have an 05 with a manual now. I know they make kits that will prevent the remote starter from cranking the engine in gear, but I always leave the car in gear and the e-brake on, so it's not much use to me.

The starter interlock is the main problem. The clutch has to be fully depressed to start the car. Most places will install the kit but what an arm and a leg because of legal issue's. I got several prices to install on and the CHEAPEST :bang: was about $1,000  :nono: DONKEY DOUGHTNUTS

CompuStar...Remote starter and alarm system ( 2W900FM-AS) under $600 installed, at least mine was. No legal issues, full warranty (as long as installed by authorized dealer and installer), designed for manual transmissions (safety sequence prevents it from setting with car in gear or e-brake not set).

Thank you who ever thought of the remote start, paid off big time today, it was mighty chilly at 28f this morning...I did forget to leave the heater in the on position, but the engine was warmed up and threw out the heat mighty fast as I drove away

Take your remote start to the next level. I run a Prestige APS-996a alarm on my '06 (manual by the way) and on eof the options I am adding over the next few days is the CL-100 option that will allow me to control my alarm from anywhere in the world via telephone. I can call 'my car' and start it from my office instead of having to get within range of the car to start it. I can also vent the windows and arm/disarm from the phone.

I installed the CL 100 unit on Wednesday and activated it last night. Pretty cool option to pick up the phone from anywhere in the world and start your car, or track your car in a parking lot on those days you can't seem to remember where the heck you parked. The CL 100 controls 7 different options. I also found out from a buddy of mine in the business that they offer the same type unit that can also be controlled via internet as well.

The MSRP on the CL 100 is around $200, can be found for about half that with some hunting on the internet. I bought mine new through Ebay and paid $25 with shipping. I installed it myself it's just a single plug into an existing port on the alarm brain so it took maybe 5 minutes to plug it in and push it up into the dash and secure it. The alarm on the other hand was pretty involved. Took about 5 hours beginning to end, the hard part was finding all the wires, it's ridiculous the amount of wires in the new Mustang. Once we traced back all the wires that we needed then it was pretty much plug and play as well. I can't see an installer charging more than $25 to install this unit on an exisiting Prestige/AudioVox alarm.
