Thumbs up

I have not installed the Redline Stuts yet but when I close my hood I have to drop it from a pretty good height not the 6 inches like my last car. Do you have to push your hood to close or can you drop it with the struts installed. Want to make sure my hood does not need adjustment before installing struts.

Thanks Scott.

Check out this tribute video. It has me at the end of the video. It shows you what it takes to close the hood.

It is like normal. You have to pull it down to start it. But about 2/3 of the way down, the struts do not hold the hood anymore. And you have to push it as hard as you would if you did not have the struts.

I cannot get your videos to play from that site :bang: but you do have to physically push the hood to close? Cannot be dropped with the struts on? Thanks.

Yes, it can be dropped just like normal with the prop. I have the struts on and you still have to drop it down to get it to close......no problem

My hood with the Redlines installed will not close completely with just a drop. I do have to give it a little extra push on the way down.

Both of ours also need the little extra push for the hood to latch, as LimeGT says, but I sometimes had to do that before installing the gas struts anyhow. The struts are so much nicer than having the prop rod. Well worth the investment.

I installed the Redline Hood Gas Springs on my Black GT,works Great but yes you have to add a little down force (pushing down on the Hood)to close it.Remember that the hood is aluminum and only weighs 26 lbs.

On mine...as you start to close it, at a certain point, gravity takes over and you can drop/push the hood...and it will close.

I find that it simply takes a consistent downward motion of the hood to get it to latch properly. I don't need to use a lot of force to close mine.

Doesn't take much effort at all.

Just a light push from about 1/2 way down closes the hood everytime.

(BTW my car is the one in the install manual.)
