Thumbs up

Considering that Red is one of those colors on the spectrum that does not react kindly to UV rays, Do you think it will hold up in long term?

Using a good leather treatment/conditioning product regularly wouldn't hurt.

Same goes for waxing your car. Protect it and it will hold up pretty well. I'm getting red and plan to take care of the leather. Hopefully it doesn't turn to pink.

I would recommend regular cleaning and treament with Lexol. I use it on my truck's leather, and I wouldn't have it any other way. As with most things, you get what you pay for. The Armor All wipes and similar products are no comparision to Lexol.

Lexol was originally developed for horse saddles, but they now offer car products. There is a cleaner and a conditioner. I use and highly recommend both. The cleaner is amazing. My light gray interior collected more dirt than realized before I used it. After about 10 months of owning the truck, I used it on the seats and was amazed at how much dirt came off of them. The conditioner keeps the seats moist and prevents cracking.

Last month I went to a vintage/classic/hot road show in my small town. Among the hundreds of cars there I saw several mid 60's cars, including Mustangs (one convertible), with red interiors. According to the owners they were all original.

So I'd say yep, it'll hold up just fine.

Don't worry, just get the red exterior paint and in 5 years you'll have a barbie stang.

I Must Agree, Lexol Is Used By Rolls Royce on their Leather! Also I must Agree With Getting the Windows Tinted to Keep Out UV rays, It Doesn't even have to be Dark Tint, just make sure you deal with someone reputable and that the Tint they use Blocks UV Rays. It is Also a Good Idea to get a Lighter Color Car with the leather, Black & Sonic Blue are going to get very hot inside which also dries out the leather.

Change my mind on the red interior... figured it would look better in a convertible -Hey, I'm not waiting for one...

Um, so they threw it on a hot grill, scorched the heck out of and served, with the inside still raw.
