DON'T bring it to the dealer and have the *inferior* clutch packs installed. Instead, just pump in 4 OZ of Ford XL-3 friction modifier to the rear end and problem = solved.

And if the added modifier doesn't work (like happened with my car) trying to fix it, bring it in and have the TSB work done.

I am SO **** happy to have that noise gone while parking, slow turning in shopping mall parking lots, etc.....

It goes in the rear end gear differential. The plug is on the front driver side of the diff. It's a metric size of some sort, just unscrew the plug and put in the bottle of friction modifier. The bottle is available at any Ford dealer for about $8.

If you take it into the dealer, there's a good chance they will take out the carbon fiber clutches (OEM on 03-04 Cobra and 07 GT500) and replace it with the standard B clutches (used in almost every 86-up 8.8" Traction-Lok).

OK do not take this the wrong way. But based on your reply I would suggest you not attempt any type of repair on your car and take it to a pro or have someone who knows show you and teach you what to do.

I agree. Do the wrong thing and if things go wrong the dealer will have the fluid analyzed for a warranty claim.

Oh man... just don't do anything under hood/car. Gas tank is outside the car on left rear fender...

Which is better? Our car has the wine and I was wondering what it was. I will probably just add the friction modifier and see how that goes.

The carbon fiber clutches are better. Try the f/m it seems to help in about 90% of the time, and it is cheap and easy.

Steve is correct! The carbon fiber clutches were designed for the 03-04 SVT Cobra, and are used on the 07 GT500.

I have found over the years that Redline Gear Oil in the 75w140 will also help to solve the noise issue with the clutch packs it already contains friction modifier. Also gear whine and clutch pack chatter are two separate issues. Gear Whine is usually prevalent at driving speeds while the chatter is low speed sharp turns usually.

its in your console. You have to cut a small hole in the bottom of it. Then use a right angled screwdriver to access to prop rod for the rear diff

Probably worth adjusting the kanooter valve and oiling the tyre grommets while you are in there.
