Railyard Pickup

Talked to my dealer today. Have an ETA of Sept 2nd but he said we could go to the railyard and pick it up to take to the dealer. The railyard is real close so I thought that would be pretty cool.

My question is: Since the dealer ETA is Sept 2nd how much sooner should the car be at the railyard? I am hoping this will allow me to get the car a day or two early, especially since the 2nd is labor day weekend and that might slow things up.

My vehicle was delivered to the rail yard on 8/14/2006 (Monday). I have been informed by the transportation company that takes the vehicle from the rail to the dealer that it will be off the rail car Tuesday evening with an ETA of Thurs or Friday at the dealership. Having said this, my dealer informed me that I could pick my vehicle up at the rail yard, but if there was any "damage" during transit, I would be responsible for the cost of the repairs by taking delivery at the rail yard.

My dealer said we would just go to the railyard and then drive it to the dealership for cleanup and paperwork. Hopefully that will make a non issue out of the damage responsibility.

I think that most railyards are required to deliver the car in 72 hours or less..

At this point 72 hours seems like forever. I can hardly wait.

Congrats!!

Mine hit the railyard on a Friday morning and was at the dealership that evening. It was prepped and ready to pick up the next day (Saturday).
