I don't think they use coal for trains anymore too much. Aren't they diesel now.

As a railway employee I can tell you that Trains move through all kinds of weather. For Ford to suggest there is a rail car shortage because of bad weather is so much poo poo. I would suggest that they have so many orders and orders waiting that Ford is having to wait for empty rail cars to return to the Ford Assembly Plant. No rail cars because of bad weather...what a crock!

Shadow, I've got bolt cutters... My dealer says P5 too, he says that's all the info they've got. On a side note, FoMoCo cust service is useless. I called tonight, and the last update they have is from Mar 12, the same thing the ERL says. I've gotten no notice of being at a mixing lot, just being told it's on a train. So either that's one slow train (must be a Toyota train ), the train's at a stop, or the system's inaccurate. Next thing you know the train will be stopped because the rail line is out of coal! :bang:
lets meet up this weekend and do some mustang hunting LOL. Just got off the phone with the useless customer service line and we asked them if it was still stuck up north wouldn't it change my ETA they said yes. So this is good news i hope. Another point the guy said is sometimes its a direct shipment ?? from the plant to dealer which may suggest why i have been in "shipped to convoy"since the 4th meaning it went from the plant to convoy to dealer...dont know about that one. The good news is if your stang is on the truck to you and if i spot it i may see your stang with mine because the truck has to go right through here to get to you unless they load yours on a different truck. Lemmie know if you hear anything and i will keep you posted from my side

If you read my sig you'll see the computer get behind during this portion of the process. I was on the first convoy carrier for 9 days and didn't get any info for 11. That's what makes this part of the process painful. I know it's a real live car, but it's not here yet. In fact it's almost a week overdue as my ETA was the 12.

I have been wating for a month, my car was built on 2/16 according to the VOPC, and still has not shipped. I have a family member who has some contacts at Ford, and after a weeks worth of phone calls and a bunch of dealer B.S. I finally found out today that the car is still not shipped due to the railcar shortage, and nobody can tell me when it will be shipped. The only thing they are telling me is that they are shipped in the order they came in. I can understand delays due to IUP, but this is ridiculous. It'll be 5 weeks come Wednesday. Ford screwed this up big time, but it's not the first time, nor will it be the last.

The ETA was 3/1, then it was pushed back to 3/8. It seems that nobody can tell me when it will be shipped. I heard today that Ford has told dealers not to call for ETA's on Mustangs because of the railcar shortage, that they are shipping them out in the order they came in, but it doesn't seem that way to me.

I feel for ya Brian.

I wonder how many cars are still waiting. My GT is locked into production for this week. I don't think I can handle another 5 weeks knowing she's already built.

Anyone know how many cars are still in the rail yard?

I'm bringing this topic back from the dead. I got an ETA from my dealer on the weekend. He said he didn't know anything about any rail car shortage, and it should be here in about 2 weeks.

Does anyone know if this is still causing delivery problems, or will the ETA prob be accurate.
Thanks.

Mine was built on 04 April, I was told to expect delivery sometime between April 25-03 May.

I think the shortage if there ever was one has been resolved. My car was built 3/2 and I picked it up 3/24 in CA.
