got a question 99.
How does the 05 haul on the top end?
No question this car pulls very well in the higher RPM band ..... Again, I am basing my commments on me getting around this car and staying ahead of it in my '99. It took me 2 laps to catch the '05. I passed realtively easily only due to the fact of the '05 moving over ang getting off the gas to let me pass (rules at IRP).
Once I got past it, it seemed to hang with me pretty well. And I am one that is not shy to use every inch of my RPM band right up to red line.
From what I saw this past weekend, I can honestly say that if you have purchased a GT and you have never driven a 300 hp car that handles very well, you are going to be in for a very big surprise.
This stock GT appeared to perfrom very well, no matter which driver was in it.

That's some pretty encouraging information. Thanks. I had a '98 GT that was preetty much bone stock except that I was able to finegal a gear swap from the dealer under warranty..... had 'em put in 3.73's (it's a long story), but the only thing I had to pay for was the speedo gear. Anyways.... I would just kill Cobras and Z28s off the line, and be eatin' 'em for lunch until I got about mid way through 3rd gear..... then my little pony (<--- that's funny
) would just sort of peter off..... so it's nice to hear that that 2nd intake valve is letting the engine breath... and quite a bit better, too. I'm excited to get mine..... thought about waiting for the '06, though..... better color choices. I'll bet these things take to a huffer like a duck to water...... good times.
Thanks again for the stories......

Everytime I hear these types of reviews I get excited. The 05 GT is severly handicapped by the tires that Ford chose. They are all season's with tall sidewalls. A quick switch to wider max performance tires, suchs a S03's will real wake this car up. The steering response will improve as well as the overall handling. Any word how the brakes were on the 05 while on the track? I read that they fade real bad, but who tracks their car on stock pads?
