Thumbs up

Just wondering if there were any ideas or better yet facts on 05 Production numbers.
I have heard 150k to 180k for the year.
What about total number of GTs built or to be built?

I think they are pumping out over 4,000 a month now. Someone had the figures a week or so ago.

I think GT production will be around 35% of the total production.

The sad part is GT demand is probably more like 60% to 70%, based
on what I have seen around here. V-6's seem to sit on lots, where
Gt's are bought extremely quickly after showing up (if not before).

Better be more like 4,000 a week! There was a post yesterday stating
something like 600 cars per 10 hour shift?

Yes, Auto Alliance has rated the capacity at 74 cars per hour, but reportedly, the actual number is now around 60 per hour.

The first year of this style of Mustang is mostly enthusiests buying and they generally want the GT. I'm surprised but not surprised about Ford dictating the build numbers they have.

Granted the V6 does carry the Mustang (what was it in the ball park of 64% of all Mustang sales) but in the first year of this body style it was a no brainer that GT sales were going to dominate.

There is a limit to the number of V8's they can produce, they just don't magically appear in the engine bay.

You're kidding? I thought I had a magical V8 in my engine bay. Seems pretty magical to me at least.

This is what I have seen at the dealership as being the estimated Production goals for % of Production year builds

V6 Mustang Coupe "Deluxe" 55%
V6 Mustang Coupe "Premium" 13%

Mustang GT Coupe "Deluxe" 12%
Mustang GT Coupe "Premium" 20%

They're aiming the V6 Deluxe at the youngest genre of buyers since that is mainly what the Mustang appeals to. Women also play a big role. Something like 55% of Mustang buyers are women, and the women "mainly" do not care about the V8 they just want the 6. (I'm not trying to sound sexist, I have documentation of this).

Why would young people prefer a V6 over a V8? I am in that young genre (25) and I have a GT.

I'm guessing the near $5k to $6k difference in price. I got a V6 because I couldn't afford the price tag on a loaded GT since I need to get it paid off within two years at which time student loan repayment kicks in which is almost a mortgage in itself!

I agree.
Most young kids cant afford laying out 25 grand + insurance.
