Xplan is pricing close to invoice. Theres a formula on finding out exact price, but it's just above invoice (a couple percent increase)
You can get this plan if a relative or friend is a Ford employee.
As for haggling tips I really don't have any exept being certain and getting lucky with your salesman.

This Forum lists the 2006 pricing guides in PDF format. You will see 3 columns -- one for 'dealer cost' the 2nd for 'dealer invoice' and the 3rd is 'MSRP'. A good customer is an informed customer. READ the pricing on the cars and the options and be aware the 'dealer invoice' price still is higher than actual 'dealer cost' so they make money even if they still sell cars 'at or just above invoice'. BE AWARE of the numbers on that PDF BEFORE you walk into the dealer showroom. DECIDE ahead of time what options you'd take/not take. DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST. The best advice I can give you is to not 'fall in love' with a car and want to take it home tomorrow. The dealers play on that. The best advice is ---be patient--- and don't want to take a car home today. The dealers play on that and thats how they get 5K+ over MSRP on GT's.

Since you posted this question in the V6 forum its likely you have a lot of common sense on a new car purchase and realize paying 5K+ over MSRP is a ripoff.

Check the pricing guides closely. Also, price your car on fordvehicles.com. The "x" plan price will be approx 5 to 10% under the 'dealer invoice' on your vehicle when you price at the factory website.

The dealers are in business to sell cars. Bottomline: The onlyway to get a dealer to come down on MSRP / get the price down is if they know the prospect they are dealing with has the ability to pay for the car under consideration. I hate to say this, but if you have good credit, the dealer will negotiate with you more than a marginal buyer with mediocre credit.... Then, go into the dealer and make an offer. TELL the dealer what YOU are going to pay. Offer them something that splits the middle between the 'dealer cost' and the 'dealer invoice'. You will be able to buy a car 'under dealer invoice' and be able to Chuckle to yourself when the salesman says yes and then rants 'you are taking the shirt of my back' or some other salesy BS because you KNOW they are making $500-$1K profit because you did your homework first and he is just being a sales guy...

Hey, then the fun begins, then the sales folks send the deal over to the F&I guys and THEN you get to haggle with THEM for another 2 hours..

Have fun!!

PS: I personally think this is why Ford & GM are in the tanker. Too much of a headache to buy their primary product and to do business with.

Friend of dealer employee should be able to hook you up with A or Z plan -- which is a better deal than X... Unless you are not really that close

You can get an x-plan pin at blue oval news if your resourceful. X-plan was slightly under dealer invoice for my car. You can find a dealer that will take x-plan just shop around. If ordering get everthing in writing and signed by the Sales Manager regarding purchase price. That way no surprises when she comes in. Good luck and just say no to MSRP or markups!

You may have to order out of state to get the x-plan pricing and have the car delivered to a dealer in your area. This will be my plan, unless I drive to pick it up. I can't think of any Memphis dealers who'll accept x-plan.
