What kind of pricing should i expect when ordering a Mustang, are some of you getting invoice price or alittle over. I've never ordered a new car before,i just don't know what really to expect with pricing, aside from greedy dealer mark-ups on some occasions, with i would never pay. Would future rebates apply on orders or is that just for cars on the lot? Do they do the credit application when ordering or when the car gets here?? Thanks for any replies,i'm looking to order a V6 or GT sometime in the fall,i'm just wondering what to expect

Expect to pay MSRP for an '06 Mustang, especially if it is a GT. Demand for these cars will remain greater than Ford's ability to supply at least through the '06 model year. Your best shot at a plan price will come early in the ordering "season". Get yourself an X plan pin and shop around, but be careful of unscrupulous dealers who will tell you that they have allocation for these cars, when they really don't. Keep in mind that allocation is done by zone first, then dealers second. If you are in an area that doesn't sell a lot of Mustangs to begin with (snow belt states) odds are the zone didn't improve that situation with the '05 model. I have encouraged everyone that asks to "fish where the fish are". I ordered my '05 GT vert from a dealer that I have dealt with for close to 10 years, and after 4+ months of waiting, he informed me he couldn't get the job done. I called a dealer in Florida, and was serialized the next day, with my car being built and shipped just 31 days after the order was placed. I am waiting for it to arrive at the drop ship dealer as I write this.

I am sure that you will get all kinds of great advice fromt this site and others; I knew nothing about the whole process when I got involved in these forums a few months back. I now feel somewhat empowered by all I have learned here and on other sites.

There are a lot of variables at work here. I suggest that you get started with your research right away, even if you don't plan on purchasing until this fall. Best of luck in your quest for a Mustang.

If i was to put down a deposit, say 500 bucks,to order a '06,and before my car actually was built or got to the dealership,i saw another Mustang i wanted on a Ford lot somewhere else. If i didn't want to wait, would i be obligated to purchase my initial order, would i lose my deposit??
My local Ford place seems to sell alot of stangs,my co-worker ordered her V6 this spring and it was there maybe a month later,so i'm optimistic,at least if i order a V6.

Depends on the dealer. Some will keep the deposit and others will refund it. Most dealers I personally know would refund it.

Pricing is negotiable and varies widely from dealer to dealer and area of the country to area of the country.

If you can obtain an x-plan pin number and find a dealer willing to accept, that is your best way to buy.
