I think i remember reading a post about a pre-catalytic converter that was inside the airbox, i read on a website that if you remove this piece, you gain an easy 5 Horsepower! anyone know of this??? or anyone have their's pulled out??? does this void the warranty??

that here be known as a hydrocarbon trap and yes removing it will give you a few more horses to play with. But don't damage or lose it because you will need to put it back in for any emission inspections.

I don't have my car so I'm not sure, but how hard is it to remove and put back in? I don't want to damage it taking it out, or anything.

Took it off my friends car. Just need a little patience and elbow grease. Pull on one side with a pair of pliers till it comes out a little. Then start on the other side. alternate a few more times and voila. (don't know how to spell that, stupid non-canadian french)

Well, if they are they either forgot to put one on mine or I am too dumb t find it. I looked inside both ends of the hose from the air box to the throtle body and didn't see a hydrocarbon trap anywhere. I don't see why they wouldn't put such an emissions thing on the V6 too, but if it is there, I can't find it.

Spray around the lip with WD40, this will make it slide out easier.

Could be wrong. I thought I was on the previous thread and someone with a v6 was having issues getting it out. Might have misunderstood.
