Only the winner of the auction is required to purchase. The minute you are over bid they can't make you buy it. They can offer a second chance offer to the next highest bidder but they can't make them buy it.

03pathfinder, there are 31 bids on this thing. He is not the only one. If he pulls out of the auction, the guy before him gets saddled with it.
And, I thought he was bidding on the car, for whatever amount over MSRP.

The point is, there is always a way to get out of an e-bay deal. Unfortunately this is true whether or not you "should" be able to get out of a deal. I have seen many people just plain change their mind after winning an auction and not follow through with the purchase and e-bay never does anything about it. [/b][/quote]
well...that's not all true legendlimetime. Only under specific circumstances can a bidder back out of an ebay auction, and once the auction is over, cannot back out at all (Real estate & cars are different). A bid on ebay is a binding contract and while there are some people who will just not pay, you could take legal action if it was worth it. Most of the time it is not. That being said, I have had over 100 successfull auctions on ebay where I was the seller and I only had one person ever not pay me or contact me. And guess what...it had to do with concert tickets also!

we bought my wife's 95 C220 mercedes on ebay. Beautiful little car, only had 31K original miles picked it up from the ebay guys in florida over thanksgiving break. there are good deals to be had, you just have to pick carefully. I am not going to take the time however to send messages to all the bidders.

ace0215 I realize a bid is binding but the point like you said is that legal action just isn't realistic when dealing with the small amounts of money we are talking about. I just think that ebay doesn't take any action against deadbeat bidders because then they lose possible sales and revenue from those same deadbeats. Just an opinion based on multiple instances of seeing the same users back again after filing legit complaints on them.???

In most of GA it's 7% sales tax so someone's going to walk away paying at least $41,000 for that car. Ouch!

It's 8% in Fulton County; but cars are exempt from the additional 1%.
Anyone that pays close to MSRP is nut's (or very rich).
