Here is a nice big fat guess on my part....6spkrs in the doors,,2 on the back deck=8 then 2 in the trunk makes 10. Is this not right? NO speakers in the trunk on the 500 is the only differnce as far as location and apparently lower quality too.

You are correct.... I don't know about the difference in speakers though. Until someone pulls their's apart, or a service manual comes out, I think we'd all be guessing on that part.

To set the record straight...

The Shaker 500 has ONLY 6 speakers.
The Shaker 1000 has 10 (including the 2 subs in the trunk)

Just look at the brochure or the specs at forddirect.com

I personally don't think the 1000 is worth the extra money. I would rather spend the money on aftermarket equipment. A good aftermarket system will blow away the Shaker 1000 and cost roughly the same if you install it yourself.
i disagree. you can spend a fortune on aftermarket systems, but a similarly priced aftermarket system (IMHO) will sound similar. So I am not going to waste time/money and tear apart my brand new car. I am getting the Shaker 1000!

Then why did I go online and just found a place to buy audiophile brand speakers?
Because somebody named their company Audiophile in the hopes of convincing people who do not know better that they make high quality audio components. Audiophile (the descriptive identifier, not the company) is a relative term claiming something is high quality. It is like saying your car is "fast" without giving stats on horsepower, torque, mph, etc. It doesn't mean anything. The Shaker 1000 is incredibly overpriced, it can't cost ford more than $100 over the price of the base audio system. If it is worth the money to you to avoid the after-market hassle thats fine, but don't kid yourself into thinking you are getting a bargain or top of the line equipment.

-Mike
it can't cost ford more than $100 over the price of the base system? Are you serious? Two subwoofers, 2 other speakers, an Amp, and supposedly all the speakers are better quality... and you think it's only $100? Right!

QUOTE (AhhDrJones @ October 27, 2004, 8:40 PM)
okay lets see who can actually come up with the specs of each system.

what are the actual frequency responses?
what are the Ohms? 8? 6?
what is the dapening in the doors?
what are the design of the tweeters? cone? horn?
what is the SN ratio on the amp?

answer these questions and we will find the true quality of these systems...

That would be interesting. I would like to see how much higher the frequency range is on the 1000 compared to the 500!

Also, I think someone said the clarity on the 1000 was much better than the 500. there has to be a reason .
Anyway why would you care. Considering you made the quote below it's obvious you would have no idea what these numbers mean.

Yes, You can buy a whole lot of equipment for a grand, but it still won't sound like audiophile! Audiophile is top of the line! Period!

Look I have a problem with people giving out completely wrong info. The quote above illistrates a genuine missunderstanding with audio and marketing in general. "Audiophile" is used as a marketing gimmick to sell a $1300 upgrade.

Anyway I would recommend the shaker 1000 for anyone who wants a easy solution to get a decent amount of bass.

However, for those who have car audio experience you can build a superior system via the aftermarket. I will be spending more than $1300 to add subs and amps in the trunk.
Why would I care? Because I will own an 05, or 06, and might purchase the 1000. Not only that, there are other people on this board that care. That' why were here!
mis-informing people? I'm mis-informing no one. I'm just stating what Ford has already stated. 9 audiophile speakers!
If you have a problem with the information, contact Ford.

They stated on their own site that the 1000 had 9 audiophile speakers. They must be of audiophile quality, or I would take it as false advertising; And yes, they use the word "Audiophile".

But as a marketing gimmick? It's all a marketing gimmick! As is the IUP, wheels, etc. It's called "OPTIONS", and you can take em, or leave em!

Are there not people on here that work at the plant? Maybe they can find out.

Maybe Brad can get a hold of a Ford Rep. How about it Brad?

i believe that early literature stated that the shaker 1000 had 9 speakers, but i think that is when they were counting the dual subs in the trunk as 1. Now I believe that the brochures state 10 speakers.

Was that an audiophile brochure? or the regular one? The audiophile brochure sounds better as you turn the pages, they use Norwegian Wood pulp. :-)

The 1000 was originally listed as 9 speakers, counting the sub in the trunk as 1 instead of 2.

Here's the deal:

Shaker 500
Speaker and sub in each door, two in the rear deck. (6 Speakers)

Shaker 1000
Speaker and two subs/woofers in each door, two in the rear deck, two subs in the trunk. (10 Speakers)

You obviously don't know much about car audio. I like to modify my car, so I can see if you don't stay stock. If you do, you can build a much cleaner system for the 1200 dollars you pay for the Shaker 1000.

8-tracks are the best way to go economy-wise. You can pick them up for 17 cents at thrift stores. I get alot of 8-tracks for free, people just give them away?? Its better than paying $15 for a CD.

1200 buck for the system. Note, these prices are taken from Crutchfield and I can find the items above much cheaper if I shopped around.

The brochure says 8 speakers for the shaker 500. Maybe someone who has one can count them for us.

No, that doesn't work. What about the rest of speakers? And the 6 CD changer? And building the box? No, you said that you could BUY a better system for the same price.
