Thumbs up

Yesterday I got to hear the shaker 500 system in a 05 GT, I was a "tad bit" disappointed I thought it was going to bump harder. The high end was great, I turned the volume way up and i was surprised by how clear it was. Now my question is for the people that have heard the shaker 1000 or has it is it worth getting or are two after-market 10's the way to go? One more question is the difference between the 500 and the 1000 is just the 2 subs in the trunk right? Thanks a lot Kevin

That is correct. The Shaker 500 comes with a sub woofer in each door. If you decide to spend the extra $1300 (msrp) for the Shaker 1000 then you will get the amp and two subs tucked away on the right hand side of the trunk.

I think there are 2 tweeters in the doors of the 1000 that aren't there in the 500. Pretty sure the 500 has 6 speakers and the 1000 has 10.

Nah, the two subs are the only difference. 500 has 8 (6 in the doors, two in the rear) and the 1000 just adds the trunk mounted subs and an additional amp (pretty steep at $1300, too) :notnice:

It sounds like all the speakers also have been upgraded???

So we get upgraded speakers, amp, 3 more speakers.....that is my understanding.

Just keep in mind that the shaker 500 only has 2 woofers, not subs. They are 8" woofers, 1 in each door so of course you are not going to get a lot of thump. They are just there for better low's.

you have to take the shaker 500 for what is really is
basically just component speakers

its still one of the best factory systems you can get
and forget about the shaker1000 .. ive never heard a factory system as loud as that

on the shaker 500 ford makes the bass drop at very high volume to stop ppl from blowing the speakers i guess the wattage isnt high enough to blast both high and low

I just recieved my new stang and have the shaker 1000 system. What I can say is that it is really, really awsome!! I know the price difference is a lot, but it definitly sounds soooo good. The clarity and thump is very impressive. It shakes the whole car, mirrors and gives you a nice massage. My opinion is that it is well worth the price!

I can buy a whole lot of equipment for a grand and have it sound nice. IMO aftermarket would be the way to go for that kind of money.

The key word here people is "Audiophile". There is suppose to be 9 audiophile speakers with the 1000 watt system. The 500 is not audiophile. Hence, the difference in price! I am a collector of Japanese Audiophile Beatle records, and believe me there is no comparison. it's a little bit of money to fork out, but you will be very satisified in the end.

For those who get the 1000, and have never heard audiophile, hang on , your in for the treat of your life!

You will have it for the life of the car. Whatever group you dig, they will sound like their in the back seat. For me it's a no brainer, factory installed, with warranty, and well worth the money. Rock on Brother!

6 speakers in the shaker 500 and 10 in the shaker 1000, early literature said 9 because they were counting the sub as 1, but people were getting confused.

Yes, You can buy a whole lot of equipment for a grand, but it still won't sound like audiophile! Audiophile is top of the line! Period!

Your being sold on a word!?! An "Audiophile" is a person who is a lover of music by definition. I am an Audiophile I guess. If you think there is any difference in speaker quality because they put the word audiophile in front of it you are crazy. It is a marketing gimmick. They put Audiophile in the name to help people justify a $1300 upgrade.

I have been in car audio for a long time. Here is my recomendation on the 1000. If you don't know car audio or don't wanna bother upgrading yourself go with the 1000 you will be happy.

However, with a $1300 budget I could build a system that would make the 1000 sound very weak incomparison in both sound quality and SPL (loudness).

Let me say this again. There is no standard as to what Audiophile quality is. It is a marketing gimmick. Whether it be beatles CD's or speakers.

Thank you. Finally an opinion by someone who has actually cranked it up and driven the car. That is exactly what I needed to hear. I was among the people who were torn between the 500 & 1000.

I was already leaning towards the 1000 because I know how much even a 75 watt amp and 1 sub made in my Explorer. Aftermarket would be cool, but I don't want to have to spend another grand which will not be financed into my price.

This statement illistrates that you have a serious misunderstanding when it comes reproducing to sound.
