P0133 error code input
P0133 error code input
I just noticed my CEL on this morning on the drive to work. First time it has ever happened. I checked with Xcal II and looked up online =
Now P0133 - HO2S Sensor Circuit Slow Response (HO2S-11)
Description
The HEGO Monitor checks the HO2S Sensor frequency and amplitude. If during testing the frequency and amplitude were to fall below a calibrated limit, the test will fail.
Contaminated HO2S sensor.
Exhaust leaks.
Shorted /open wiring.
Improper fueling.
MAF sensor.
Deteriorating HO2S sensor.
Inlet air leaks.
Access HO2S test results from the Generic OBD-II menu to verify DTC.
I checked on more than a few different sites to get ideas about causes.
I thought a read a thread a while back about people getting error codes that were cured simply by cleaning the throttle body - was this code related to that?
Anyway the reason I highlighted the FUEL listing above is that I noticed that listed under causes of this code on a few different sites (or 'bad fuel'). YESTERDAY when leaving work, I took a tight left hand turn at decent speed and a right getting out of my parking lot - and as happened once before months back after doing some tight turns, I guess I messed with the fuel level sensor and my fuel level gauge dropped into the basement and showed close to empty - I also got a '20 miles to empty message'. I still had over a quarter of a tank though and after a while it equalized back to normal.
Now the next day I get this error code (truthfully I can't say if the light was on last night when I parked the car after getting home cause I didn't notcie) and one of the possible causes is fuel - could a low level and manuevers like that have caused this?
Any input appreciated - thanks!!

I had this code come up on my car several times. For me, it had to do with the longtube headers and tune and the 02 sensors not warming up quick enough. If I were to start the car, drive down to the stop light, and GUN IT, it would come on, as the sensors aren't warmed up yet. The thing to do, is to change an aspect of the tune you are running. It has something to do with open/close loop, to have the sensors stay on longer so they can warm up properly.
Yeah, I get those from time to time and it's because of my longtubes as well. I clear them and they go away, it doesn't happen very often, so I'm not really concerned.
BUT
Since Burke has stock manifolds, I would clear the code, see if it comes back, then start by doing a MAF cleaning, then working your way down, cleaning and inspecting everything till you get to the sensors, which in the end may be going bad.

Thanks to all who chimed in and anyone else who has something to throw in....
Well now I've got it. Did yours ever come back Dave?
I've got a tune for an OR pipe, wouldn't that automatically turn the sensor off? And if so, then what's causing it? I've already thoroughly cleaned the MAF and TB.

John! What's up brudda?
NOPE - NEVER came back man
I would clear it and not panic unless it rears it head again.
