Outer door handle not retracting.
I searched and found that several people have experienced door handle(s) that aren't retracting fully. Anyone that has had theirs fixed......do they have to pull the inner door panel to do the fix?
just had mine done a few days ago and yes they do have to pull the inner door panel off to fix it. they messed up one of my door panel pieces and although they are going to replace the piece they messed up it still sucks they didnt take there time and were not carefull with my baby. so watch out for scratches and stuff on the door panel after they replace the outside door handle
I just got my car back from the dealer this afternoon after having the handle replaced on the driver's door. Although I left it there Sunday night, they didn't get all the work done on Monday, so they gave me a loaner and finished it today (Tuesday). As the earlier poster noted, the length of the job is longer because they have to remove the inner panel and window glass.
The handle is OK; I did notice that that the inside panel is no longer flush with the holder for the inner door handle. In other words, when they pulled the inner handle insert, it didn't go back in place just right. At this point, however, it's not worth hassling with them again for what appears to be just a cosmetic flaw.

Mine does it, but there aint no way I'm leaving the car there for 2 days unsupervised. I'll live with it - like you said, it's cosmetic any way.

When I had mine done they just had to adjust a rod inside of the door. The tech that did it said they did have to replace it on another car. So I think it really bepends on what is wrong.
Mine was just sticking out in the back. The other one was sticking out in the front and back.

My spingy thingy inside broke, so they ordered a whole new assembly which had to have a new door handle as well which I thought a tad brighter ! it only happened on the drivers door as i guess it's used more ?

My drivers side handle is hanging out a bit. If I take it in I'll be removing the door panel and various parts first to give them access to the handle so they don't damage the panel in they're hast. When I had the radio replaced under a tsb, I advised the service rep I'd be removing the console and various panels as well before taking it in for the radio change after making my appointment. They had no problem with that.
